Unity State Embraces Peace: VP Taban’s Tour Highlights Stability and Growth ‎

Uror County: Two People Killed and 260 Cattles Raided

Cattle raiders raided Uror County of Jonglei State and left two people dead and stole 260 herds of Cattles local official said. 

Hon. Machot Gatluak Uror County Commissioner confirmed the incident while speaking to the media. 

The commissioner said that the incidents happened in two separate attacks launched by armed groups since Friday. 

“The first incident occurred in Karam Payam where a group of seven men attacked a family house on Friday at around 7 pm, shooting dead an elderly man,” Machot said. “In Motot Payam, 150 cows were raided from Rubmaker village at 11:40 pm the same day while 20 minutes later (12 am), 110 cows were raided from Padien village. Also, a herdsman was killed, and several cows were raided Saturday at 12 pm in an attack on Pulchuol.”-County Commissioner said. 

The Commissioner was blaming the GPAA Greater Pibor Administrative Area, saying the armed came from GPAA. 

John Samuel Manyuon, Jonglei Information Minister confirmed the allegations and said the attacks are causing panic and fear in the county. 

In his owned word as we quote: “armed youth from Murle continue to kill and raid cattle from our territories. This is alarming. So, there are youths from Greater Pibor who are in the areas of Jonglei. In as much as we see the other one, they are also doing the same thing to our people,” John Samuel said.   

The local officials of GPAA denied the accusations and termed it baseless and that no youths from GPAA was involved in the attack.
