Dollo Payam Death Toll rises to Eight (8)

Dollo Payam executive director of Juba County said that the death toll from last week's cattle related violence has risen to eight.

Peter Modi said that: "On Thursday three people were killed, they were shot just here on this road. And after two days which was Saturday, another five were also killed and all village was burnt down with everything including food and goats,"-Peter Modi.

Peter Modi said during the visit of Juba County Commissioner, Charles Joseph Wani on Monday.

Director Peter Modi further said that six others were reportedly wounded in two separate attacks on Thursday, and Saturday respectively.

The executive director further said that the incident resulted in Mass displacement of people in the area.

“Now, these people here don’t have anything even blankets and clothes or a place to sleep”, he said.

During the visit, both Juba County Commissioner and the Dollo Payam Executive Director ordered the evacuation of the herders from the area.

The County officials of Juba are blaming the herders for the grievances the locals are facing in the county.

This is as their activities have disrupted farming and the movement of children to and from schools.

Among the most direct effects of the raiding are loss of human lives, reduced number of livestock as well as reduced access to water, pasture and even loss of homes.
