Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. General Gabriel Jok Riak Does Not A Child In The Army.

Family members of General Gabriel Jok Riak have dismissed fake news circulating on the social media and in Ugandan gossip newspapers linking a man dressed up as a Brigadier General to South Sudan’s Chief of Defence. The man in question is “Brown” aka Paulino Akoon Yel Dut. He is the “spokesman” for South Sudan United Front / Army faction of Garang Achiec Bol Agiu. Akoon Yel Dut is from Northern Bahr el Ghazal Region. He studied in Gulu, Uganda according to those who know him and has zero military experience. He is not related to General Gabriel Jok Riak in any way whatsoever according to the family. Two (2) Women Died As A Result Of Heavy Flooding In Torit State

  Officials in Torit State confirmed that two women died as a result of heavy flood in Torit East County.   The Commissioner of Torit East County Hon. Tobby  Majak said that the flood resulted because of heavy rains in Torit State.   Torit East Commissioner also said that the effect of the flood was so devastating as crops were destroyed and people had to move to higher grounds and start farming afresh to avoid another calamity  The Commissioner is advising the people of his county not to give up in farming after the flood.  He believed farming will eradicate poverty in the State.    Hon. SPLM-IO Released Fifteen (15) Prisoners Of War

SPLM-IO Deputy Spokesman confirmed that they have released 15 Prisoners of and have been handed over to South Sudan Red Cross.   The Deputy SPLM-IO said they released the because of the peace agreement  Manawa own words “The 15 persons have been transported from New Fangak to Juba. It is a good move towards the implementation of the peace process.”  Speaker Manawa is also urging the government to do the same by releasing the SPLM-IO prisoners detained in Juba.   Red Cross Communication Officer Aidah Khamis said that “facilitated the release of 15 persons detained in relation to the conflict in South Sudan.” The Red Cross communication officer also said that ”We safely transported the former detainees to Juba on Thursday and they were handed over to the government.”  What do you think of the move by SPLM-IO to release the Prisoners of war???  More to follow shortly....

South Sudan Leads With The Highest Number Of Rape Cases

Victoria Nasra the Director General in the Ministry Gender, Child and Social Welfare confirms that South Sudan leads with the highest number of rape cases. The Director General also said that the reasons to why South Sudan leads in rape cases is because of high level of alcohol consumption in the country.    Victoria Nasra also said that due to alcohol consumption the armed forces tend to lose control of themselves.   The rape cases in South Sudan led to families being broken because of the after effects of the rape.  Rape cases also led to children dropping out of school and also high level of divorce in the community.   More to follow shortly....

Ex-Lol State Commissioner Arrested For Involving In Illegal Gold Mining

A former commissioner in Lol state and six other people have been arrested for alleged involvement in illegal gold mining activities in his County Alamin Ahmed, the former Commissioner of Kafia Kinyja, was dismissed from office last week and immediately apprehended along with his executive director, deputy director, three Sudanese miners and a South Sudanese national.  Lol state Minister for information, Anei Anei Juach says Ahmed instructed the area executive director and his deputy to give the green light to the illegal miners. Juach says by the time of arrest, the miners had dug three hundred out of one thousand planned illegal gold wells in Kafia Kinyja. Hunger Forced Lafon County Communities To Flee The County

  The communities in Lafon County from Torit State have decided to abandon their County due to hunger, the Commissioner Of Lafon County Confirmed this report.   Hon. Owar Marko added that every day a large number of families had to flee the County due to drought and as a result there is no food to sustain them.   The drought came as a result of poor harvest in the County. The poor harvest is because of lack of rain in the County the commissioner said.  Roads connecting Lafon County to other counties and States have became impassable for humanitarians to deliver food aid to the County.    The commissioner is appealing to the government and humanitarian agencies to come to their rescue immediately.  More to follow shortly....

South Sudan President Orders Investigation Into Crude Oil Pre-Sale By Former Petroleum Minister

Just less than two weeks ago after sacking Petroleum Minister Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, South Sudan President ordered investigation into his crude oil pre-sale deals.   South Sudan President also organized an investigation committee to complete the inquiry.   President Salva Kiir also said that “ascertain the number of pre-sale agreements and companies allocated crude oil on the basis of pre-sale.” The investigation is expected to take 14 days only.  The committee will investigate: 1. The process of crude oil pre-sale and Taxes 2. Verifying the crude oil pre-sale data It is still unclear to why the president ordered the investigation but it is believed to be because of corruption activities in the petroleum department.   More to come shortly....

Juba academy emerged as the best secondary in the just released secondary education results.  It got a 100% pass rate.   It means all the subjects has an excellent pass rate in Juba Academy the pride of South Sudan.   Juba Academy is also followed by St. Thomas Secondary which is also in the same state known as Jubek State.   Let's break down the performances from all the states: Aweil East State 96.6% Eastern Lakes State 96.9% Amadi State 13.3,% So the question is who is the best student in the recent secondary examination.  He is no other than Michael Dut Arok Mabior with 96%. Six Underage Children Caught Going From Torit To Juba On Foot In Search Of Job

Girls ranging from 11-15 years have been caught by Torit Authority going to Juba on foot in search of job.   The six underage girls were caught in Lowoi a Torit West Payam.  The alleged girls also claimed that they have been mistreated by their parents and had no one who cares nor wanted to take care of them.  Torit Police Spokesperson Lt. Mathew Ochan said that police are currently searching for the parents of the six girls.   The six underage children are currently being held at Torit Central Prison and they are being provided care and support by the Child Protection Unit.   South Sudan Law does not allow minors to travel without proper reason. South Sudan Members of Parliament threatened to impeach speaker Makana if he still insist that the Finance Minister to read the budget for the fiscal year 2019/2020. The threat came after civil servants have not been paid their salaries for the last six months by the government.   Just last Thursday the members of parliament rejected the new budget to be read and rectified and some even storm out of the parliament causing chaos.   The chaos forced the speaker the speaker to suspend the debate on budget immediately.   A member of the parliament Hon. Dhoruai Mabor who hails from Rumbek East County said that “If the speaker calls for tabling the budget before the payment of salaries, we will impeach him,” he stressed. Hon. South Sudan Transitional National Legislative Assembly Demands The Government To Explain What Happened To The Budget For Last Two Years

South Sudan TNLA today met to revisit the incident that occurred last week when most of the members rejected the fiscal year 2019/2020 budget.   The wired thing about the meeting is that, it was neither conducted in parliament nor the main hall.   A member of the TNLA Hon. Yoane said that she has nothing to day regarding the meeting  “I’m not telling you that there is no sitting or there is sitting tomorrow…I’m saying no comment for time being.”  His reaction came after thebTNLA denied the finance minister chance to read the budget. Authorities of South Sudan’s Western Lakes State have banned the possession of illegal firearms in the state. Western Lakes States Authorities today banned the civilians from possessing Illegal firearms in the state.   The banned came after series of unprecedented murder cases in the state deeming the insecure  Western Lakes State Governor said that “I, Major general, Mahmoud Solomon Deer Agok, governor of Western Lakes State do hereby issue this order for the banning of illegal armed person movement within the headquarters of all the eleven (11) Counties of Western Lakes State.” The order will not implemented fully minus the support of the armed forces so the governor is calling on all the armed forces in his state to help implement his order.   Citizens of Western Lakes State are happy with the order since they will be able to carry out their daily activities minus fear of unknown gunmen.   South Sudanese what do you think of this brave move by Western Lakes State Gov

Torit State Officially Opens Equatoria International University

Torit State Officially opened Equatoria International University. The University will temporarily be located at Torit Institute until funds can be be found to built the university.  The University currently have enlisted 50 students from various faculty. Prof. Philemon Bwanga the registrar of academic confirms it.   The registrar of academic said that classes will start officially on June 24. “Torit is actually blessed to have this university now functioning. Education is now brought on your doorsteps so that you can access education cheaply and even at your own convenience. In our program, from Monday at 10:00, we expect all those whose names were read on radio stations to come for orientation.”  Professor Bwanga further said thatv“We need to equip you with what you are supposed to go through during the classes and your respective lecturers. IGAD Demand South Sudan Government To Avail The Money Given To Them For Peace Implementation

IGAD is not happy with South Sudan Government for withholding money given to them for the peace agreement since most tasks are still pending.   The demand from IGAD came After South Sudan Government promised to avail 100 Million Dollars for the peace implementation during the pre-transitional period.  Early this year NPTC provided a budget of 285 million dollars which was also approved by the cabinet in Juba.  The tasks in the NPTC budget has not even kick off.  Activities like assembling of soldiers, training, screening and unification are all still pending.  Members of the SPLA-IO in Ngiri Cantonment site last week complaint of hunger and lack of medical facilities too.   Here is what IGAD council of ministers have to say “[The council] calls on all Parties to the Agreement to continue their engagement in the peace process; and thanks the Special Envoy and the R-JMEC for their efforts.” The big question is what happened to a sum of 285 million dollars which is in the

Yei River State is very calm and stable no security incident, confirms the State Minister of Information. The minister also said that the hotbed of the rebels like Lasu road and Kupera is also calm since  no insecurity incidences reported. The State Information Minister Hon. South Sudanese gangs in Kakuma Refugee Camp clashed. The clash resulted in one person dead and seven others wounded. The group resides in Kakuma 4. Kakuma 4 is a new area opened in Kakuma Refugee Camp in the year 2014 when War broke out in South Sudan. The two groups commonly known as Migos and Kayole had been having conflicts for a long time. Whenever they meet they fight.  We are yet to know the reason of the fight but currently investigation is underway as Criminal Investigation Department have taken over the matter.  Most of the gang leaders have been arrested and some fled or are on the run.  The Police is asking for support to help identify those criminals and bring them to the book. Ex Deputy-Governor Of Western Lakes State Appears In Court Over Missing 3,638,700 Million SSP

Former Deputy Governor appears in court over missing 3.64 million SSP. The Ex-Deputy Governor of Western Lakes State also was acting education Minister. During his role as state acting education minister he stole over 3,638,700 SSP and he was brought to court to explain the missing money which was meant for teachers and students. Earlier this month, Hon. Kerjok admitted that at least 10.68 million SSP did not reach the teachers claiming that his former employer blocked them from being given to the beneficiaries. Hon. Man Killed A Relative and Injured Another Person In Western Lakes State

Western Lakes State police spokesperson confirmed that a man killed a relative accidentally and injured another person in the cattle camp.   Mr. Elijah Mabor the State spoke person said that the alleged man mishandled his gun "One person died on the spot and another was seriously wounded in the incident and is receiving treatment in Rumbek state hospital, the cause of the incident was due to the mishandling of the gun." 49 Year Old Woman Raped Multiple Times By Two Men In Rumbek

 Police in Rumbek have arrested two men accused of raping a 49 year old woman.  Just last year over 12 cases have been reported in western lakes state.   The arrested suspects are Mr. Mayom John and Mr. Malei Meen. The suspects are currently under police custody and are awaiting further investigation.   The two suspects said that they were under the influence of alcohol and has no idea of what happened afterwards.     The victim of the rape is currently undergoing medication at Rumbek Hospital after she fully recovered that is when the rapist will be arraign in the court.     The young men of South Sudan should be careful and be in control when taking alcohol at all time.     "According to Section 247 of the South Sudan Penal Code, whosoever has sexual intercourse or carnal intercourse with another person against his or her will, commits the offence of rape and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years and

Corrupt traffic police officers have been dismissed from duty as Interior Minister confirms this report.  Corruption issue on the roads have been very rampant as motorist are always swindled of their hard earn money by the traffic police officers.   Hon. Michael Chiengjiek said that in the months of May and June traffic officers caught across the country accepting bribes or demanding bribes from the motorist have been dismissed from duty.  In his own words the Minister of Interior Hon. South Sudan National Legislative Assembly erupted in Chaos on Thursday Morning today after Members of Parliament denied the Finance minister to read the 2019/2020 budget.   The reason to why the Finance Minister was denied chance to present the 2019/2020 budget is because the Members of Parliament were not paid some outstanding arrears.  The Members of Parliament insisted that all outstanding arrears of over 6 months should be paid to all the civil servants.  Last week on Friday council of ministers approved a raft draft of the budget of 208 billion pounds for the year 2019/2020. South Sudan Parliament Summoned Kuol Manyang Minister Of Defense, Nhial Deng Minister Of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Kapoeta State Governor Luis Lobong over Kenya boarder issue.  This came after some members of parliament claimed that the Kenya government launched 65-kilometer road rehabilitation project last month. The three government officials were summoned over a project by Kenya to construct a tarmac road pass Nadapal up-to Kor Nakodok.   The Kenya road project is about 70 kilometers and it goes 12 kilometers deep inside South Sudan territory.  Apart from the broads Kenyan troops have encroached into South Sudan territory making it hard for the natives to take their cattles for grazing.   Kapoeta State Member of parliament Hon. South Sudan People's Defence Force (SSPDF) Underwent Training On Conflict Sexual Violence

South Sudan People's Defence Force (SSPDF)  underwent a training on conflict sexual violence and human right.   The training was conducted by United Mission In South Sudan (UNMISS).   The training amid allegations accusing the South Sudan People's Defence Force (SSPDF) committing various atrocities to the women and young girls of South Sudan.  A report was published earlier his year about over 125 women raped in Northern Liech by the South Sudan People's Defence Force.   South Sudan People's Defense Force (SSPDF) Human Rights Officer John Oziegbe admit that the training will equip the army with knowledge to curb any sexual violence committed by the army.   The Human Rights Officer is asking the Army to take what they learn seriously and spread the message to grassroots level.   More to come shortly.....

Salva Kiir Women Hospital Receives Solar Donation From South Sudanese In Diaspora

Salva Kiir Women Hospital in Rumbek receives solar donation from South Sudanese in Diaspora mostly from Australia.   The chairman of South Sudanese in Diaspora Australia section said that the solar is to be used mostly in the maternity ward and also to fight darkness in the maternity ward.   The solar will be used to light the incubator in the maternity ward and all be used in theatre during operation.   Dr. Ali Dhamir gives his thanks to the Rumbek community in diaspora for their act of kindness.   Dr. Ali who is also the Medical Director in the facility said that the Solar's will help save many lives in Rumbek.  Australia has a high number of South Sudanese. South Sudan Receives Over 7 Million Dollars From USA For Wildlife Conservation

United States government has launched a 7.5 Million dollars project to conserve wild life.  The project will focus on Boma and Badingilo National park and will also support livelihood.   The US Ambassador to South Sudan Tom Hushek said that the funding all address poaching and livelihood in the areas mentioned.  The funding will protect endangered species and also animals like cheetah, crocodile and pangoline the ambassador confirms.  In the ambassadors own words “South Sudan has tremendous biological resources of national, regional, and global importance. Thirty Five (35) People Confirmed Dead In Kapoeta Flood.

Governor of Kapoeta Stats Hon. Louis Lobong Lojore confirmed to the media that after a heavy rain in Kapoeta on Tuesday 35 people lost their lives.  The same rain hit various parts of South Sudan like Duk in Jonglei whereby people also died.   Hon. Lobong said that "We lost about 35 people during the heavy rains that hit several counties in the state on 10 June, so this is what happened here."  He added that the flood destroyed people homes and even destroy the bridges.  “We are trying to create awareness among our people to control water-borne diseases,” he said. The flood affected the market in Kapoeta since it cleared all the food store in Kapoeta State. Yei River State Authorities Launched The Dissemination Of The Revitalized Peace Agreement

South Sudan Signed An Agreement On Boarder Demarcation With Kenya

South Sudan Minister Of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial today signed an agreement with the Kenyan Ambassador Monica Juma, Cabinet Secretary For Foreign. The agreement is about Boundary Demarcation and Delimitation.  In the past years South Sudan watched as Kenya pushed their boarder from Lokicchokio to Nadapal and rumors has it that Kenya is planning to extent it's boarders  up-to Loolim South Sudan.  The full content of the agreement is yet to be disclosed but let's wait and see when both government will disclose it.  Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial was accompanied by South Sudan Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Chol M. U. Ajongo and First Secretary, Mr. Peter G. Former Jonglei State Governor Welcomes His Sacking

Former Jonglei State Governor Philip Aguer Panyang termed his sacking a normal routine shuffle by the president and he has no issue with the sacking.   The former governor said he had serve his people for a very long tone “I am happy with my relieve. It is something normal. I welcome the new governor and I wish him success in his leadership.
