Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. His firearm, a G3 rifle, was stolen after the shooting. ‎ ‎Turkana County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident, saying the assailants struck before other officers at the examination center could respond. “We lost one of our officers this morning while he was on official duty securing KCSE exam materials. President Kiir Held A Meeting With The Transitional National Legislative Assembly Team Led By Speaker Nunu Kumba

The Transitional National Legislative team led by speaker Hon. Nunu Kumba held a meeting with President Kiir.

Speaker Hon. Nunu said the meeting was about updating the president on the progress in the National Legislative Assembly.

She said that they also updated the president on the inauguration of South Sudan members to the East African Legislative Assembly and also to host  the upcoming Great Lakes Parliament Plenary Meeting in South Sudan. 

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is a sub-organ of the larger East African Community, being the legislative arm of the Community. Members are sworn into five-year terms

She further said that they are planning to with the executive body in the implementation of the peace agreement. 

The Transitional National Legislature of South Sudan is the legislature of South Sudan. The Transitional National Legislature consists of the Transitional Council of States (upper house) and the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (lower house). The National Legislature has its seat in Juba, South Sudan.

A Sudanese Arabic newspaper is reporting that Riek Machar has hired Janjaweed as his bodyguards for his return to South Sudan. The Janjaweed have been renamed “Rapid Support Forces” and helped to suppressed the Sudanese protestors who toppled Bashir. Dr Riek who is currently in Khartoum will be accompanied by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, the commander of Janjaweed who is currently part of Sudan’s ruling Sovereign Council. The newspaper Al-Intibaha quoting unnamed sources in the Government of South Sudan reported that Riek will return to South Sudan next month to meet with President Kiir. The paper did not specify the date of the meeting.
