Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. South Sudan Ranked As The Second Most Corrupt Country In The World

According to the report retrieved from Transparency International, they have listed South Sudan as the second most corrupt country in the world following it is Somalia making Somalia as the most corrupt country in the world. The report also indicated New Zealand, Finland and Denmark as the most least corrupt countries in the this country do not condone corruption and it is corruption free. “ This year, New Zealand and Denmark Ranked highest with scores of 89 and 88 respectively. Syria, South Sudan and Somalia ranked lowest with scores of 14,12 and 9 respectively. The best performing region is western Europe with an average of 66.”- Transparency International Further analysis of the results indicates that countries with the least protection for press and non governmental orgagnisations (NGOs) also tend to have the worst rates of corruption. This is not to say that the peace talks have collapsed, the stakeholders at the talks have initialed the areas agreed upon and we shall continue in phase III with the revitalization process. South Sudanese in Addis Ababa Shed Tears

South Sudanese delegates for the High Level Revitalization Forum who gathered at Elily Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday, shed tears while praying for peace in the country.   Others cried loudly, some in low voices while some cried silently with their tears running down their cheeks.   They began crying after Sarah Nyanath Elijah started prayer of the faithful with tears.   Emeritus Bishop of ECSS Rejaf Diocese, Enock Tombe encourages South Sudanese to continue crying to realize lasting peace in the nation.   He reminds people about Prophet Nehemiah in the Bible, who fasted and cried when his country was destroyed.   Bishop Tombe asks God to forgive all the people of South Sudan for failing to maintain peace and spoiling their reputation in the world.   The prayer that brought many participants together was under the theme: “There is deliverance in the Mighty name of God”. Opposition Faction Boycott Talks Over Alleged Attacked On Their Position In Nassir

A total of nine opposition group on Monday boycotted talks in Addis Ababa, claiming that their base in Nassir has been recently attacked by the government.   The opposition members walked out of the revitalization hall and went for consultations meeting. South Sudan National Minister of Education Mr. Deng Deng Hoc calls on every citizen to put education as their first priority because it is the only way to  change the nation. Hon. Deng Deng Hoc advises the people to overcome the current suffering through education,  The Minister emphasizes on the need to develop South Sudan instead of war. The Honorable Minister Mr. Deng further appeals to everybody to take pen as their gun, to help their children in future. He appreciates Gbudue State Governor for maintaining peace in the area. Kakuma Refugee Camp Students Are Asked To Pay For Their School Fees

The Refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp have to stand still when UNHCR and Windle Trust International starting asking parents to start paying school fees for their children, the refugees have never imagined a thing like that would be said to them. Windle Trust International is requesting that each child is to pay a total amount of 3,000 ksh per term which is to commence immediately by the beginning of this February and any child who fails to pay that amount of money will never be admitted to the schools in short the learner will just stay at home. The move by UNHCR and Windle Trust International have been rejected by the refugees since they can't even afford a Meal for themselves and the food ration is not even enough. South Sudan’s warring parties disagree on discussion over the Parliament

    The ongoing High Level Revitalization Forum for South Sudan in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia adjourned the discussion on the National Parliament to Friday due to disagreements from parties.   Government Spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth says they want the Transitional National Assembly to be expanded to accommodate all parties.   The committee was set up to deal with the issue and it did not come with fruitful results on the parliament, he points out.   A member of the opposition groups, Lam Akol Ajawin, says they need a lean Transitional Government so that services are invested on repatriation of refugees, resettlement of IDPs and other developmental activities.   Opposition parties do not stand for positions, but want the parliament that can deliver services to people, he notes.       “Let South Sudanese at home have hope for peace because the mood in the discussion hall shows that people are committed to peace, says Edmond Yakani, a civil societ

Women demand 50 percent in coming unity government

      Women must have 50 percent in the next government of national unity, says Chairperson of Women Bloc of South Sudan.   Amer Manyok Deng says women are transparent in nature, caring and carry all the burden of war in the country.   The Chairperson justifies that if there are many women in the government, there will be no injustices done to females in the country.   Twenty-five percent is little for women because they constitute seventy percent in South Sudan’s population, she criticizes.   The Chairperson of Women Bloc of South Sudan spoke to media on Tuesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in the sideline of the High Level Revitalization Forum for South Sudan organized by IGAD.   Retrieved From: CRN.    

Minister Of Information Mr. Makuei Lueth Said The Government Is Optimistic For Peace

Mr. Makuei Lueth the Minister of Information in South Sudan was yesterday addressing the media in the Ethiopian Capital, Mr. Makuei is in Ethiopia as part of the negotiating team in the revitalization forum. He says that he is hopeful that total peace will be achieved in this round of talks. The Minister of information further disclosed that the revitalization forum will take up to 17 th of February 2018. This roughly 11 days stay in Ethiopia trying to get an amicable solution. Troika Demands For A Serious Talk Among The Warring Parties

The parties that are currently participating in the High-Level Revitalization forum is under high scrutiny by the Troika Countries who are demanding them to engage in a serious talk in order to achieve peace in the country. The Briton senior advisor to Junub Sudan and Sudan Mr Paul Sutphin has expressed disappointment on the various count of violation of the cease-fire agreement and cessation of hostilities which was signed on December 21, 2017.   He hopes the parties talk in a constructive manner to reach peace to save people suffering also Mr Chris Trot of United States of America calls for seriousness and genuine commitment to the peace talks he applauds the IGAD for their steps taken to bring South Sudan’s parties together so as to bring peace to the country. DDRC Says Over 700 Child Soldier To Be Reunited With Families

  More than 700 children will be reunited with their families this week on Wednesday says The Demobilization Disarmament and Rehabilitation (DDR) Commission of South Sudan. One of the of the (DDR) officials Mr. Oluku Andrew Holth says the child soldiers were registered and verified in Gbudue state and they were found to be below 18 years old. He further says his office has registered and verified 716 children who were formerly associated with the SSNLM and SPLA/IO. When ask of what becomes of the fate some of the children? He discloses that some of the children will be taken to Government Interim Care Center to give them psychosocial support. South Sudan Prosecutor Admits That Lack Of Judges Has Led To Prolong Detentions

Imatong State Public prosecutor has admitted that the prolonged detention of suspected criminals is due to inadequate judges in the state.   The public prosecutor Mr. John Wani Lado says that it is impossible for prosecutors to perfectly complete work in absence of judges.   Wani says his office is working hard to bring more law enforcement officers to ensure work is effective in the area. All Political Parties Who Signed The Cessation Of Hostilities To Attend A Revitalisation Forum In Addis Ababa

The political parties and all those who signed the agreement on cessation of hostilities are attending the revitalization forum in Addis Ababa today Monday. Joseph Ukelo, leader of United Sudan African Party expresses readiness to participate in the forum. He observes several violations of the ceasefire agreement. MrJoseph Ukelo further accuses SPLM parties for not being faithful to the agreements they signed for the sake of peace in the country. The expectation after signing 2015 peace agreement was to fulfill all the requirements and fix the time for elections, but the warring parties violated it, he regrets. Ukelo encourages South Sudanese to have hope as they go back to Addis Ababa for the revitalization forum. The leader spoke to journalists in Wau on Friday ahead of his trip to Addis.

United States Of America To Impose Arms Embargo On South Sudan

The United State will shortly announce an arms embargo against Junub Sudan on Friday, it will be done because they need to step up the Pressure on Salva Kiir to end the country's civil war and humanitarian crisis. Ambassador Nicky Haley said that  “I urge my fellow Council members to support an arms embargo. This isn’t punishment. Nor is it a meaningless gesture. It is something we can do to actually help the people of South Sudan – to slow the violence, slow the flow of arms and ammunition, and protect innocent lives,” she told the council last Wednesday.
