Four children have been confirmed dead in Petaladu village after a grenade they were playing with exploded.
Budi County Executive Director Alfred Odong told the media team that: the children place the grenade on fire causing an exploring hence killing 3 children on spot.
"So, they got a grenade and this grenade exploded and killed three of them on the spot. One was wounded and brought to Chukudum Hospital and later died. Four of them are kids,”-Executive director said.
The executive director further said that the children are between the age bracket of two and five years of age.
Joseph Hiteng Loyari, a relative of the children, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident saying the children are all relatives.
One of the relative of the deceased children, expressed his deepest sorrow over the lost of the children.
"It is a tragic and very terrifying incident. The family is all saddened because the children are all relatives and they are from the same clan from the same family. So we have had to combine the funeral," He wails.
Lawmaker Moi Isaac a member of Eastern Equatoria State Parliament confirmed the tragic incident and said investigations will be conducted as to assertain the source of the grenade.
PAY ATTENTION: Budi County is an administrative area of Eastern Equatoria state in South Sudan, with headquarters in Chukudum.
Budi county is derived from two ethnic groups who inhabit the area (Buya and Didinga). It is located in Eastern Equatoria State, bordered by Uganda to the south and Kenya in the East.
