SPLM Reaffirms Commitment to Peace, Unity, and Democratic Transition in Christmas Message ‎

General Paul Malong Ousted From His Own Party "SSUF/A"

South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) has split into two factions one group based in Nairobi Kenya calling itself SSUF/A Nairobi declaration announced that Gen. Paul Malong is no longer part of the movement. 

More than 10 ex-SSUFA Malong team from all the regions of South Sudan signed a new Memorandum of Understanding as members of SSUF/A Nairobi Declaration. 

Former deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Finance of SSUF/A Malong faction was declared as the head of the new SSUF/A Nairobi Declaration faction. 

Dickson Gatluak Nyuot the new leader of SSUF/A Nairobi Declaration faction accused Gen. Malong of being  incompetent and lacks vision to lead the team. 

Speaking to the media Dickson Gatluak said that: "Our goal is to have peace with the government and reconciliation between the people of South Sudan, because we do not want war, and we must achieve peace," he said. "We discussed with General Malong Awan many issues of the movement but he does not want change. That is why we decided to dismiss him and bring in new and young leadership."-Dickson Gatluak. 

Dickson Gatluak further said that they will soon arrive at a decision wether to join the Rome peace talk or participate in a dialogue with the government for a solution locally. 

He claimed that Malong has been left alone since all the prominent leaders of SSUF/A Malong faction have joined his team. 

Gen. Paul Malong later on release a statement dismissing Five SSUF/A members whose names appeared in the Nairobi Declaration. 

"With your approach to entry into negotiations with theJuba regime is a betrayal and conspiracy from you to weaken SUF/A and as a futile attempt to undermine the leadership, which prompted this end to take this decision,"-Gen. Malong. 

"In light of this gross misconduct, that I Gen. Paul Malong Awan, Chairman and Commander in Chief of SSUF/A duly informed by these facts ordered the expulsion of the above-cited members from the rank and file of the SSUF/A according to article 20.7 of the Constitution," he said. 

Here are the names of those expelled by Gen. Paul Malong: Guol Jial, Dickson Gatluak Nyuot, Rambang Paul, Nyagoa Tito Biel and Philip Deng Kuol. 

Dickson Gatluak Nyuot said that: "Malong has no legitimacy to dismiss us from the front. We are fighting for young leadership in South Sudan. Malong has to retire because he has become incapable of leading the front."-Dickson.

The South Sudan United Front/Army, often just called South Sudan United Front, is a South Sudanese rebel group which has taken part in the South Sudanese Civil War.
