Kuol Manyang: Security Arrangements Are Key to Lasting Peace

President Kiir and Kuol Manyang ‎Senior Presidential Advisor and Chairperson of the National Transitional Committee (NTC), Kuol Manyang Juuk, has updated President Salva Kiir Mayardit on the ongoing efforts to implement the security provisions of the 2018 Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS). ‎ ‎During a briefing held at the State House in Juba, Kuol Manyang expressed optimism about the progress made by the NTC, saying: “We are progressing well.” He emphasized that the Committee remains fully committed to delivering on the key tasks outlined in the peace deal, particularly those related to Chapter Two, which covers security arrangements including the unification of forces, training and redeployment, and DDR (disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration) programs. ‎ ‎“Security is the backbone of lasting peace,” Kuol stated. “We are prioritizing this chapter because without strong and united security institutions, the broader ...

President Salva Kiir Joins Thousands Of Mourners In Juba For The Funeral Of Late Defence Minister Gen.John Kong


South Sudan President Salva Kiir today join mourners to mourn our late former Minister of Defence General John Koang. Thousands of mourners were present at Medan Simba for the funeral prayers for the late Defence Minister Gen. John Kong who died in Nairobi on 26th December 2022. 

President Kiir describe the late Gen. John Kong as a true friend and a selfless fighter during our struggle for freedom. 

President Kiir further said eulogized the late Gen. Kong by saying the late general dedicated his life to struggle against marginalization and injustice. 

He further said that the late Kong is a principled man who do not condone tribal politics but believed in diversity and coexistence among South Sudanese. 

In the attendance were the First Vice President H. E Riek Machar, Vice Presidents H.E . James Wani Igga, H.E Taban Deng Gai, H.E. Rebecca Nyandeng and the Speaker of Parliament RH. Nunu Kumba, among other senior government officials.
