South Sudan and Central African Republic 'CAR' agreed to establish diplomatic relations

South Sudan and Central African Republic have agreed to establish bilateral ties and deepen diplomatic cooperation in areas of Trade and investment. 


Speaking to journalists, Cabinet Affairs Minister Dr. Martin Elia Martin said the two countries signed a joint Cooperation agreement on trade and investment to promote development between the two countries.


On her part, Central African Republic's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sylvie Valérie BAIPO TEMON said the two leaders have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding in areas of trade and  security matrix along the borders. 


They further signed another pact to waive visa requirements for the citizens of the two countries to allow free movement of people in the region.


This is President Faustin Archange Touadéra's first visit to South Sudan since his election as President in 2016. 


Officials say President Faustin’s visit to South Sudan is a positive step that will pave way for further collaboration between the two countries.


The Central African Republic 'CAR' is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Chad to the north, Sudan to the northeast, South Sudan to the east, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the south, the Republic of the Congo to the southwest, and Cameroon to the west.
