Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. President Salva Kiir Mayardiit reiterated that African leaders to join efforts to address the impacts of Climate Change on the continent.


The South Sudanese president was addressing the inaugural session of the Africa Climate Summit 2023 in Nairobi Kenya. 


The Summit  held under the theme 'Driving Green Growth and climate finance solutions for Africa and the world' is aimed at addressing the escalating exposure to climate change and its associated costs.


The event provides a crucial platform for African leaders to deliberate on the pressing climate-related issues affecting the continent. 


The Summit sought to inform, frame, and influence commitments, pledges, and outcomes, with the ultimate goal of developing the Nairobi Declaration, an agreement that will guide Africa's response to climate change.


President Kiir's participation at the occasion  demonstrated his dedication to addressing the urgent climate challenges facing South Sudan and the African continent as a whole.
