‎Health, Relief, and National Security Shake Up Signals New Political Realignment ‎ ‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a wave of presidential decrees, reshuffling leadership in three of South Sudan’s most sensitive institutions: the Ministry of Health, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), and the National Security Service (NSS). ‎ ‎The decrees, announced on State-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Wednesday evening, have already ignited heated political debate. President Kiir met with the  East African Community (EAC) delegation to discuss East African Community affairs and the status of  implementation of the EAC integration program.


While speaking to the press, Secretary General of the East African Community, Secretary General Peter Mutuku Mathuki, said President Kiir will be elected Chair of the  East African Community next year, after Burundi.


Mutuku also revealed that many South Sudanese nationals work in the regional bloc, which, he said, will ensure  the integration of South Sudanese people into the bloc.


The Undersecretary of East African Community Affairs, Hon. Beny Gideon said the EAC chairmanship will be held by South Sudan at next year's summit. 


The East African Community (EAC) is a regional intergovernmental organization consisting of 7 partner countries: Burundi, Democratic Republic of  Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania, of which the headquarters are located in Arusha, Tanzania
