President Kiir, Museveni Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Pledge Regional Stability

President Kiir, President Museveni and VP. President Salva Kiir Mayardiit attended the opening session of the 78th UN General Assembly today. 


President Kiir also held a number of bilateral meetings with various African leaders. 


The President during the meetings expressed South Sudan's readiness and commitment to building peace in the region.


UNGA also known as the United Nations General Assembly and it is one of the six principal organs of the 'UN' United Nations and it's main objective is to deliberate on policy making and representative organ.


The UN General Assembly also make key decision for the United Nations which is electing the UN Secretary General upon the recommendations made by the Security Council. 


UNGA also elects the non-council members of the Security Council and they also approve the UN budget. 


The Original members of the UN was 51 States in the year 1944 and the current statistics is 193 UN member States. 


All UN Member States are members of the General Assembly. States are admitted to membership by a decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.
