President Kiir, Museveni Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Pledge Regional Stability

President Kiir, President Museveni and VP. President Kiir and his accompanying delegation returned to Juba on Saturday, after a three days official visit to Moscow the capital city of Russia.


Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, National Minister of Presidential Affairs said that, the two heads of state agreed to expand the relations between South Sudan and Russia in areas of, trade, energy and other prospective areas.

The Russian president, promised to work hand in hand with South Sudan in order to develop the mining sector in Juba, Dr. James Pitia Morgan said. 


In terms of trade, South Sudan's chief export is crude petroleum. Other exports include gum arabic. Because of food insecurity and the limited manufacturing sector, the country must import most items, including many foodstuffs, motor vehicles and machinery, and manufactured goods.

Due to the current food insecurity and limited manufacturing sector, South Sudan imports most of items, which includes foodstuffs, motor vehicles, machinery and the manufactured goods.


Energy sector, South Sudan has the lowest electrification rates in the world, meaning the country relies on local generators to generate electricity.

For those connected to the electric network often experienced power blackouts making citizens rely on standby by electric generators. 


The country is trying to build a biogas electric generating system that depends on electricity from cattles dung.
