President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.  President Salva Kiir Mayardiit today dismisses Presidential Special Envoy and Petroleum Ministry Undersecretary in Major Reshuffle.  President Kiir today issued a series of decrees that resulted in the removal of several high-ranking officials from their positions.  Among those relieved of their duties were the Presidential Special Envoy, Ambassador Albino Mathom Ayuel, and Dr. Chol Thon Abel, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum.  These changes come as part of broader political and administrative adjustments, though the reasons for the dismissals have not been officially detailed in the decree.  Such moves are not uncommon in South Sudan's dynamic political landscape, where leadership changes can be influenced by both internal and external factors. The President did not explain as to why he decided to sack the high ranking officials in the government.

South Sudan People's Defense Force Spokesperson 'SSPDF' Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang while speaking to the media said that, the deployment would only commence after a comprehensive verification of the personnel.

“All soldiers of the unified forces in greater Upper Nile, greater Equatoria, and greater Bahr el Ghazal must report to training centers within 7 days so that we can begin their deployment,” he said. “After they have reported to their training centers, a verification team will be sent to check before we commence with deployment.” Maj. Gen. Lul said.

Maj. Gen. Lula Ruai Koang said that, Greater Equatoria training centers had already been delivered food and non food items and the other regions will follow suit in the next few days.

“Food items for greater Equatoria have been delivered and food items for Bahr el Ghazal are on the way and will arrive today or tomorrow,” he said. “Meanwhile, we are preparing to deliver food items for the units in the greater Upper Nile region.” Maj. Gen. Lul said.

“The food for forces in Jonglei will be delivered by road, whereas those for Malakal and Bentiu will be delivered by boats,” Maj. Gen. Lul added.

He concluded by issuing a sten warning by saying that, soldiers who will fail to report for the exercise will not be deployed and will never be allowed to join phase two of the training.

SPLM-IO Spokesperson Col. Lam Paul for his part said that, the verification exercise will be done and reiterated on the importance of soldiers reporting to the cantonment centers with their weapons following a directive issued by the president.

“A verification team will go out and find out the standing parades and check the actual numbers. So all the soldiers have to go back to the centers where they were trained,” he explained. “So, after the exercise, the soldiers will then be deployed. Their food is now being delivered to the various centers.” Col. Lam said.

Col. Lam further said that, presidential order was clear and that soldiers going to the cantonment centers must report with their guns unless those going for the phase will be excluded.

“For the SPLA-IO, cantonment centers are akin to the barracks of the SSPDF. So, there will be 17 cantonment centers across the country where our forces will report before they move to training centers,” he said. “So, anyone reporting to a cantonment center has to go with his weapon.” Col. Lam clarified.

The Colonel concluded by, urging all the soldiers to follow the directives issued by the president and they should not miss the chance to be deployed.
