Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. His firearm, a G3 rifle, was stolen after the shooting. ‎ ‎Turkana County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident, saying the assailants struck before other officers at the examination center could respond. “We lost one of our officers this morning while he was on official duty securing KCSE exam materials. President  Kiir accompanied by first lady Mama Mary Ayen Mayardit and other senior government officials have led the country in mourning the veteran politician, late Lieutenant General Salva Mathok Gengdit who died on 1st March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand after short illness. 


The leaders on Wednesday joined mourners at Juba International Airport to pay their last respect to late Gen. Salva Mathok Gengdit.



Late Hon. Gen. Salva Mathok served in various capacities as a Deputy Chief of Staff of SPLA for Administration and Finance, 2005-2009, Presidential Security Advisor 2010-2011, and Deputy Minister of Interior 2011-2013. He died as a sitting Member of Parliament, National Legislative Assembly representing Gogrial East, Warrap State. 


Gen. Mathok Gengdit will be laid to rest in his home town of Adiercieen, Warrap State.
