‎Health, Relief, and National Security Shake Up Signals New Political Realignment ‎ ‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a wave of presidential decrees, reshuffling leadership in three of South Sudan’s most sensitive institutions: the Ministry of Health, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), and the National Security Service (NSS). ‎ ‎The decrees, announced on State-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Wednesday evening, have already ignited heated political debate. President  Kiir accompanied by first lady Mama Mary Ayen Mayardit and other senior government officials have led the country in mourning the veteran politician, late Lieutenant General Salva Mathok Gengdit who died on 1st March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand after short illness. 


The leaders on Wednesday joined mourners at Juba International Airport to pay their last respect to late Gen. Salva Mathok Gengdit.



Late Hon. Gen. Salva Mathok served in various capacities as a Deputy Chief of Staff of SPLA for Administration and Finance, 2005-2009, Presidential Security Advisor 2010-2011, and Deputy Minister of Interior 2011-2013. He died as a sitting Member of Parliament, National Legislative Assembly representing Gogrial East, Warrap State. 


Gen. Mathok Gengdit will be laid to rest in his home town of Adiercieen, Warrap State.
