Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. President  Kiir accompanied by first lady Mama Mary Ayen Mayardit and other senior government officials have led the country in mourning the veteran politician, late Lieutenant General Salva Mathok Gengdit who died on 1st March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand after short illness. 


The leaders on Wednesday joined mourners at Juba International Airport to pay their last respect to late Gen. Salva Mathok Gengdit.



Late Hon. Gen. Salva Mathok served in various capacities as a Deputy Chief of Staff of SPLA for Administration and Finance, 2005-2009, Presidential Security Advisor 2010-2011, and Deputy Minister of Interior 2011-2013. He died as a sitting Member of Parliament, National Legislative Assembly representing Gogrial East, Warrap State. 


Gen. Mathok Gengdit will be laid to rest in his home town of Adiercieen, Warrap State.
