South Sudan’s Caretaker Minister of Presidential Affairs, Africano Mande Gedima, has held talks with Ethiopia’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Delil Kedir Bushra, on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on diplomatic relations and cooperation, with the two officials also exchanging views on the current situation in South Sudan, Ethiopia and the wider region. Ambassador Delil Kedir said the discussions provided an opportunity to share perspectives on regional developments and matters of mutual interest. President Salva Kiir Mayardit Renames University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal ‎

‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit has announced the renaming of the University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal to the University of Aweil and directed the national parliament to formalize its status as a public university.

‎

‎The announcement was made during the president’s visit to Aweil, where he pledged government support for higher education and institutional development in the region.

‎

‎President Kiir instructed lawmakers to undertake the necessary legal procedures to ensure the newly renamed University of Aweil is fully recognized as a public university under South Sudan’s higher education framework.

‎

‎The move is expected to strengthen access to higher education in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and enhance the university’s role in training skilled professionals to support national development.

‎

‎Further details on the parliamentary process and implementation timeline are yet to be announced.

Governor of Kapoeta Stats Hon. Louis Lobong Lojore confirmed to the media that after a heavy rain in Kapoeta on Tuesday 35 people lost their lives.  The same rain hit various parts of South Sudan like Duk in Jonglei whereby people also died.   Hon. Lobong said that "We lost about 35 people during the heavy rains that hit several counties in the state on 10 June, so this is what happened here."  He added that the flood destroyed people homes and even destroy the bridges.  “We are trying to create awareness among our people to control water-borne diseases,” he said. The flood affected the market in Kapoeta since it cleared all the food store in Kapoeta State. He added.  Finally he is calling out to the humanitarian organization to come and rescue his people plus the government too since many people are dire need of help.  More to come shortly....

Former Jonglei State Governor Welcomes His Sacking

Former Jonglei State Governor Philip Aguer Panyang termed his sacking a normal routine shuffle by the president and he has no issue with the sacking.   The former governor said he had serve his people for a very long tone “I am happy with my relieve. It is something normal. I welcome the new governor and I wish him success in his leadership. And I am thankful to the people of Jonglei State for cooperating with me for three and a half years.” The former governor said there were some forces behind his sacking and they finally managed to succeed in their mischief.  In his own words “I was appointed in 2015 after community recommendation. But since I was appointed, a group of politicians in Juba was not happy. They have been lobbying for my sacking for the last three years. But I am thankful that the president did not listen to them throughout those years. So now I think my sacking is just a routine process because the president has powers to appoint and relieve.”...
