"SSPDF' Soldier Allegedly Kills Younger Brother Over Financial Dispute in Warrap State

  SSPDF. South Sudan People's Defense Forces 'SSPDF' soldier today was believed to have shot and killed his younger brother over financial disagreements in Gogrial East County-Warrap State.  According to eyewitnesses and family members. 1st Lieutenant Geng Tong Geng shot his brother twice over the misuse of 1 Million SSP. The deceased Arol Tong Geng was imprison in Kwacjok and was released earlier because the family requested for his release.  The dispute between the brothers was meant to be settled amicably but the 1st. Lieutenant Geng couldn't control his resentment and opted to end his younger brother's life.  Local State and County Authorities have not yet commented on the incident but concerned community members are calling seeking for justice.  Such family conflicts can escalate quickly in this region, where access to resources often exacerbates tensions within families and communities.  This tragedy underscores ongoing social challenges in Warrap State, where

Hon. Denay Jock Chagor the governor of Jonglei State on Monday evening dismissed the Mayor of Bor Municipal Council


In a Decree a availed to the media, Governor Chagor also reinstated the Lands and Housing Minister who was dismissed yesterday afternoon by Jonglei State Deputy Governor. 


Here is the statement from Jonglei State Governor: “I, Denay Jock Chagor, Governor of Jonglei State, do hereby issue this Gubernatorial Order for the relieve of H.W Samuel Ateny Pech as Mayor of Bor Municipal Council in Jonglei State, with effect from 27 March 2023,” Denay said.


“In reference to the letter of the Deputy Governor of Jonglei State dated 23 of  March suspending the Minister of Lands, Housing and Public Utilities, that order was not legal and did not follow the constitution.” Denay said. 


No tangible reasons was given for the sacking of Bor Municipal Council Mayor. 


Rumors had it the reinstated, Land and Housing Minister was accused by some businesswomen of taking land meant for business and selling it to some alleged investors. 


Jonglei State, is a state of South Sudan with Bor as its centre of government and the biggest city. Jonglei state comprises nine counties: Bor, Akobo, Ayod, Uror, Duk, Nyirol, Pigi, Twic East, and Fangak. 


In the 21st century, Jonglei State has been marred in ethnic clashes which the UNMISS  estimated in May 2012 had affected the lives of over 140,000 people, and has been heavily magnified by the broader South Sudanese Conflict since December 2013.
