Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. His firearm, a G3 rifle, was stolen after the shooting. ‎ ‎Turkana County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident, saying the assailants struck before other officers at the examination center could respond. “We lost one of our officers this morning while he was on official duty securing KCSE exam materials. President  Kiir met with Ethiopian Prime Minister, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali who come to South Sudan on a one day visit. 


The Ethiopian Prime Minister, upon his arrival at Juba International Airport he was warmly welcome by President Kiir and other senior government officials. 


The two leaders held a meeting on bilateral matters with Regional Dimensions as well as progress of the Peace Agreement. 

 

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Deng Dau Malek said the meeting focused on bilateral relations, regional dimensions and the progress of the Peace Agreement. 



Hon. Deng also added that the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali held a side-line meeting with the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny to deliberate on challenges hindering the implementation of the Peace Agreement.

 

In his remarks, the Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Misganu Arega said that the two leaders exchanged views on matters of bilateral relations and regional stability.


Ambassador Arega also thanked the government of South Sudan for welcoming them  warmly. 


“An official and colorful welcoming ceremony was organized on behalf of the Prime Minister for which Ethiopia is grateful,” Amb. Arega said.
