Breaking News: President Kiir Has Appointed Lt. Gen. Chol Thon Balok As The New National Defence And Veteran Affairs Minister

President Salva Kiir has appointed Lt. General Chol Thon Balok as the current Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs after relieving him from the position of Deputy Defence Minister. He replaces former minister Angelina Teny.


Chol Thon Balok, was a former governor of Eastern Nile State in the year 2016. Governor Chol in the year 2016 Chol, in February, fired state employees hailing from Latjor and Western Nile states after Upper Nile was divided into three states.


In the year 2021, Gen. Chol Thon Balok was appointed new Deputy Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs.


After  South Sudan's President Salva Kiir on Saturday of 2021 sacked his Defense Chief Gen. Johnson Juma Okot and appointed Gen. Santino Deng Wol as the head of the army.
