Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN APPLAUDED PRESIDENT SALVA EFFORTS TOWARDS PEACE IN SUDAN

 



The government of  has conveyed support to the IGAD peace process in Sudan headed by President Salva Kiir Mayardit. This comes as Prime Minister Fumio Kishida Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Shumizu Shinsuke, met President Kiir in Juba on Friday. 


Speaking in a joint media briefing Ambassador Shinsuke says he consulted with President Kiir on the conflict in Sudan, where Japan called for strict observance of ceasefire and allowing humanitarian assistance to reach the civilians trapped by conflict.


The Envoy said the Japanese government has confidence on President Kiir’s mediation efforts in Sudan and pledged to coordinate humanitarian aid to the affected population.


South Sudan’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Deng Dau Deng said President Kiir has assured the Japanese Envoy of his commitment towards restoration of peace in the Sudan. Minister Deng said President Kiir has been on constant talks with the two warring Generals in Khartoum to cease fire and come to the negotiating table.


On Thursday, the two parties in their pre-negotiation signed a declaration of commitment to protect civilians and lay ground for humanitarian assistance to resume in Sudan.
