‎Health, Relief, and National Security Shake Up Signals New Political Realignment ‎ ‎President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a wave of presidential decrees, reshuffling leadership in three of South Sudan’s most sensitive institutions: the Ministry of Health, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), and the National Security Service (NSS). ‎ ‎The decrees, announced on State-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Wednesday evening, have already ignited heated political debate. THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN APPLAUDED PRESIDENT SALVA EFFORTS TOWARDS PEACE IN SUDAN

 



The government of  has conveyed support to the IGAD peace process in Sudan headed by President Salva Kiir Mayardit. This comes as Prime Minister Fumio Kishida Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Shumizu Shinsuke, met President Kiir in Juba on Friday. 


Speaking in a joint media briefing Ambassador Shinsuke says he consulted with President Kiir on the conflict in Sudan, where Japan called for strict observance of ceasefire and allowing humanitarian assistance to reach the civilians trapped by conflict.


The Envoy said the Japanese government has confidence on President Kiir’s mediation efforts in Sudan and pledged to coordinate humanitarian aid to the affected population.


South Sudan’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Deng Dau Deng said President Kiir has assured the Japanese Envoy of his commitment towards restoration of peace in the Sudan. Minister Deng said President Kiir has been on constant talks with the two warring Generals in Khartoum to cease fire and come to the negotiating table.


On Thursday, the two parties in their pre-negotiation signed a declaration of commitment to protect civilians and lay ground for humanitarian assistance to resume in Sudan.
