Ex Deputy-Governor Of Western Lakes State Appears In Court Over Missing 3,638,700 Million SSP

Former Deputy Governor appears in court over missing 3.64 million SSP. The Ex-Deputy Governor of Western Lakes State also was acting education Minister.

During his role as state acting education minister he stole over 3,638,700 SSP and he was brought to court to explain the missing money which was meant for teachers and students.

Earlier this month, Hon. Kerjok admitted that at least 10.68 million SSP did not reach the teachers claiming that his former employer blocked them from being given to the beneficiaries. Hon. Deng has however, been tide lips about the claim and hasn’t made any comment to the public regarding the saga.

The now Unemployed politician William Koji Kerjok, showed himself to the court sitting on Friday morning in blue suits with his defense lawyer.

Speaking to the press after the court hearing, Koji’s defense lawyer Moses Marial Bol said that the court should dismiss the case against his client claiming that the money was with the former governor and that he should be the one to ask

“ministry of finance is responsible for the state money and governor of the state is the overall of the state properties,” said the lawyer

“I request the court to dismiss the case and ask the former governor”, He added

In a fully park court room, teachers defense lawyer Malith wundit Jokthiang said that there was enough evidence for the people to believe that his clients will win the case.

“Today the first dependent who is the former deputy Governor appears but the second dependent the former Governor did not so, the sitting is adjourned to June 27, 2019”, Wundit Explained

“Based on the facts we have, we will win the case and the teachers will get their right. We are confident about that,” he adds

The court hearing is adjourned to 27 June 2019. The Former Governor John Deng who was also summoned earlier at the same time by the court refused to show up.
Primary teachers have not lodged their complain despite voicing their discontent earlier on.

Capitation grant and teachers’ incentives is a joint contribution from the government of South Sudan and European Union to support education sector in South Sudan
