A renowned South Sudanese business woman has flown in 50 South Sudanese yesterday to Juba from Sudan. The citizens are those who fled fighting in Sudan by road to Paloch in Upper Nile.
“This is the first flight. If situations permit, there will be a second flight today or tomorrow”, Said Sarah Enock shortly after landing in Paloch.
While describing the situation back in Khartoum, she paints a bleak picture of South Sudanese who are stranded there, punctuated by starvation, sickness and a general lack of all basic life necessities.
“The situation there is really bad. There is basically nothing. There are cases of people who have been left on hospital beds after operation. It is really sad”, she said.
Sarah Enock urges all South Sudanese to put their differences and joint hands to rescue fellow South Sudanese during this disastrous war.
“I call upon all of you to support in whatever way you can. I am trying my best but I can only do what I can. If we pull resources together with our government, we will be able to rescue our fellow citizens. The people stranded there are our brothers, sisters, mums, grand parentsetc,” she concluded.
Fighting still rages between forces led by two generals in Khartoum and more than 450 people have been killed and an estimated 4,000 wounded, according to the United Nations
An armed conflict between rival factions of the military government of Sudan began on 15 April 2023. The conflict started when clashes broke out across mostly the west side of Sudan, as well as in the capital city of Khartoum and the Darfur region.
Among those trapped in the fighting are South Sudanese, mostly refugees who fled the 2013 and 2016 civil war back home.
