President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday met with the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State.


The Deputy Governor is also SPLM Chairman in the State, Col. Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime who briefed the President about the security situation and political development in the state.

 

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Col. Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime said he informed President Kiir about the Political development after his recent visit to ten counties of the state.


Western Equatoria State, is a state in South Sudan. It has an area of 79,343 square kilometres. Its capital is Yambio. 


The state was divided into counties, each headed by a County Commissioner. Western Equatoria seceded from Sudan as part of the Republic of South Sudan on 9 July 1956.

In a decisive move to ensure procedural integrity and align with national and regional best practices, South Sudan’s Ministry of Interior has been ordered to rescind a controversial directive on driving license validity.  The decision came after a high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, bringing together key stakeholders, including the Deputy Minister of Interior, Hon.
