Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday met with the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State.


The Deputy Governor is also SPLM Chairman in the State, Col. Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime who briefed the President about the security situation and political development in the state.

 

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Col. Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime said he informed President Kiir about the Political development after his recent visit to ten counties of the state.


Western Equatoria State, is a state in South Sudan. It has an area of 79,343 square kilometres. Its capital is Yambio. 


The state was divided into counties, each headed by a County Commissioner. Western Equatoria seceded from Sudan as part of the Republic of South Sudan on 9 July 1956.
