President Kiir Promotes Bol Mel, Mamur, Madut Dut to Generals ‎

‎The Presidency in a move signaling renewed emphasis on strengthening South Sudan’s defense and security leadership, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Commander-in-Chief of all organized forces, presided over the promotion of several top generals in the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and the National Security Service (NSS). ‎The promotions, announced and conferred at the President’s office in Juba on Monday, were witnessed by senior government officials, including the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, General Chol Thon Balok. ‎Among the most notable elevations was that of Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who now becomes a full General in the National Security Service (NSS), having risen from the rank of Lieutenant General.  The announcement marks the culmination of Bol Mel’s rapid rise within the security architecture and further cements his role in shaping the country’s political and military future. ‎The Key Promotions ‎Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, Vice Preside...

President Kiir was briefed by the Deputy Governor of Western Bahr El Ghazal State, Hon. Zakaria Joseph Garang on the general situation in the state.


Hon. Garang described the general situation in the State as stable and that they are on daily basis receiving the returnees fleeing the war in Sudan. 


He added that the government is allocating land for the returnees and integrating them into the community.


Western Bahr El Ghazal State is a state in South Sudan. It has an area of 93,900 km² and is the least populous state in South Sudan, according to the controversial Sudanese census conducted in 2008. 


Western Bahr El Ghazal State, is also a part of the Bahr el Ghazal region. Its capital is Wau. 


There are three counties in Western Bahr el Ghazal State. Each county is named after their seats, and the three counties are Raga County,  Wau County, and Jur River County.
