Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. President Kiir on Friday was briefed by Governor of Western Bhar El Ghazal State, Sarah Cleto Rial, on the general situation in the state.


Governor Sarah Cleto briefed President Kiir on ongoing agricultural projects in Western Bhar El-Ghazal to combat hunger and boost production.


President Kiir assured the governor to fulfil his promise to renovate Wau Stadium and provide ambulances to the state hospital.


The problems facing health sector in Western Bahr El Ghazal State are; Poor access to health services due to an acute health workforce shortage, inadequate health infrastructure and poor health service utilization, the state has poor health indicators. 


The state also experiences high maternal, infant and child mortality rates are some of the highest in the country. 


Wau Stadium is a soccer specific stadium in Wau, South Sudan. It is home to Wau Salaam Football Club. 


In the year November 1 2017, a wind storm nearly destroyed the stadium, Then Governor Hon. Taban Angelo announced a call for engineers and technicians to design a new stadium, while demolishing the old one.
