Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. Crops are drying up as scourge of drought and famine hits some parts of Aweil East County

Residents in Mangok Payam of Aweil East County are saying they don't expect a good harvest as the crops are getting dry since it stopped raining for a long period. 


While speaking to the media, Mangok residents say they haven't received rain for more than two weeks now and that's when the disastrous drought started to badly affect the crops. 


 “We have not received rain for the last two weeks and this is the condition of our crops, therefore, this is a sign of hunger and we don't expect a good harvest this year,” one of the residents says. 


The most affected crops are sorghum, maize, okra, sesame, and pumpkin among others. However, the cultivation of groundnuts was already interrupted since they are normally grown in June and July.
