Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. The Presidency in a meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has appealed to the political parties to unify their position in regards to passing the National Budget, currently before the Parliament.


Heads of all the political parties in government attended the meeting. 


The meeting  was to discuss the national budget, and particularly the issue of the deficits.


Presidential Affairs Minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin says the country's top leadership is committed to a budget that satisfies the salary scale of the civil servants, military and the organized forces.


"The meeting explored ways to diversify revenue collection in regards to oil production, as the government looks forward to solving some of the problems, like strengthening our pounds so that the salaries given to civil servants, military and organized forces can be a living wage that a family can afford to have dinner at the table", Marial said.


During the meeting, leaders of the political parties agreed to talk to their Parliamentary Caucuses to unify their position in passing the national budget.
