Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has directed the Governors to stabilize their areas, by ending cattle raiding among communities.


President Kiir was addressing the Governors of Warrap State Manhiem Bol Malek, Rin Tueny Mabor of Lakes State, Dr. Joseph Monytuil of Unity State as well as Chief of Administrators of Ruweng Stephano Wieu Malik and of Abyei Dr. Chol Deng Alaak in Juba on Monday.


Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs Tut Gatluak Manime blamed the conflicts on the presence of illicit firearms in the hands of unauthorized persons.

 

Tut says plans are underway to hold a peace and reconciliation conference in Kuajok bringing communities from the said States.


The Advisor said the government is now prioritizing civilian disarmament in order to stem out unnecessary conflicts among communities in the region.


Top security Chiefs attended the meeting, seen as crucial in ending intra and inter-states cattle raids.
