Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. Tens of thousands of people converged in Wau Stadium to celebrate the sole nomination of President Kiir as SPLM Presidential flag bearer in the 2024 general elections.


SPLM members and enthusiasts came from the four States of Bahr El Ghazal and Abyei Administrative Area.


In a declaration read by Warrap State Governor Manhiem Bol Malek, people from the votes rich region renewed and pledged their unwavering support to the President. 


In his keynote address, President Kiir said, "I am deeply touched by your endorsement and your continued support to our historic party gives me confidence that we will stand together as we go towards elections next year", Kiir said.


President Kiir underscored the success of some developmental projects, including the Juba-Bahr El Ghazal Highway, which he said is progressing well.  


The Head of State noted that government is doing everything possible to ensure that all the processes that are crucial to conduct the elections are put in place.


The event organisers acknowledged the significant contributions President Kiir has made in the liberation struggle and believe that his transformative leadership will develop the country.
