Presidents Kiir and Ruto Direct Mediation Teams to Resolve Outstanding Issues for Tumaini Initiative, Paving Way for Regional Stability

  President Kiir of South Sudan Hosting President Ruto of Kenya in J1.  President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan and Kenya’s President Dr. William Ruto have instructed their respective mediation teams to resolve any remaining issues under the Tumaini Initiative within a two-week timeframe, ahead of a final signing. This directive follows a high-level meeting in Juba, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and strengthening bilateral ties. Kenya's National Security Advisor, Dr. Monica Juma, highlighted that the two leaders agreed to secure regional support for the Tumaini Initiative. They encouraged IGAD to mobilize resources and secure backing from the TROIKA countries to ensure the initiative's full implementation. Additionally, a key project discussed was the construction of an 11-kilometer road connecting Nadapal and Nakodok, intended to facilitate trade and movement between the nations. BAHR EL GHAZAL REGION CELEBRATES PRESIDENT KIIR'S CANDIDACY IN 2024 ELECTIONS

Tens of thousands of people converged in Wau Stadium to celebrate the sole nomination of President Kiir as SPLM Presidential flag bearer in the 2024 general elections.


SPLM members and enthusiasts came from the four States of Bahr El Ghazal and Abyei Administrative Area.


In a declaration read by Warrap State Governor Manhiem Bol Malek, people from the votes rich region renewed and pledged their unwavering support to the President. 


In his keynote address, President Kiir said, "I am deeply touched by your endorsement and your continued support to our historic party gives me confidence that we will stand together as we go towards elections next year", Kiir said.


President Kiir underscored the success of some developmental projects, including the Juba-Bahr El Ghazal Highway, which he said is progressing well.  


The Head of State noted that government is doing everything possible to ensure that all the processes that are crucial to conduct the elections are put in place.


The event organisers acknowledged the significant contributions President Kiir has made in the liberation struggle and believe that his transformative leadership will develop the country.
