South Sudanese Female Refugees In Rhino Camp Call The Government To Implement The Peace Agreement

South Sudan refugees in Rhino Camp Uganda have decided to make their anger be heard by the world and South Sudan mostly the female refugees. The refugees are calling upon the government of south Sudan and International community to help implement the revitalized peace agreement.

The call by the female South Sudanese refugees came after a series of meeting between the refugees and the NGOs in Uganda. The refugees said that they are suffering in Uganda specifically Rhino refugee camp.

One of the female undisclosed because of security reasons said that she regrets that most of the South Sudanese children are in the street here in Uganda instead of being in the schools learning and most of them will not be educated South Sudanese citizens in the future.

The population of rhino refugee camp in the year 2017 was 90,000 representing a total of about 23,000 Households. The camp was originally opened in the year 1980 due the then SPLM/A rebellion against the Khartoum Islamic Regime. The Rhino Refugee camp total population as of now is 120,000 Refugees mostly South Sudanese and they continue to receive new arrival on a daily basis.

The refugees received a lot of challenges in the camp for example the farming land provided by the government of Uganda are infertile and when the land is infertile it cannot support agricultural activities in the area.

Inadequate water and boreholes contributes to thirst and the refugees in Rhino Camp has to trek for long distance sometimes in search of water. The health care system is not good there is no good drugs in the pharmacy and this leads to high morbidity rate.

The shelter system in Rhino camp is not good most of the refugees have no shelters they sometimes have to sleep under the trees or are given a small tent to accommodate more than 10 members of the family which is not enough.

More to follow shortly……
