Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Tuesday received a detailed briefing from Central Equatoria State Governor, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, on the prevailing security and governance situation across the state.

Governor Rabi reported that the overall security condition remains largely calm, with only a few isolated incidents of instability in parts of Greater Yei, where rebel forces have attempted to disrupt community life.


He expressed appreciation to the national government for maintaining stability along the Kajokeji border and addressing cross-border tensions that have previously threatened peace in the area.

According to Rabi, his administration has also organized a major peace and reconciliation forum in Terekeka County to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, and dialogue among communities.


The Governor reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace, improved governance, and strengthened cooperation between the state and the national authorities.
