Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. ‎The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) commander in Nasir, Colonel Duoth, has rubbished social media rumors alleging he was killed by SPLA-IO forces.

Speaking from Nasir on Saturday, the visibly angry officer said he is alive and in full command of his troops, urging the public to ignore what he termed as “baseless propaganda” meant to cause panic.

‎“I am alive and well. Those spreading false reports should come to Nasir and see me in person,” Col. Duoth stated.

He warned individuals behind the rumors to refrain from spreading misinformation that could incite fear among civilians or destabilize the fragile peace in Upper Nile State.

‎The SSPDF commander reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining stability in Nasir and working closely with local authorities to ensure peace prevails in the area.
