Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. Transition National Legislative Assembly 'TNLA' speaker said that, she is displeased by the continuous failure of ministers to appear before the parliament for questioning. 


Just last month over five ministers were summoned for questioning regarding their dockets but they fail to turn up for questioning.

The summoned ministers are: Foreign Affairs Minister, Defense and Veteran Affairs Minister, Interior Minister and National Security Minister. 


The state governors were also summoned by the house but they never showed up for questioning.

The summoned governors were: governor of Central Equatoria State, Jonglei State, Warrap State and GPAA Chief Administrator. 


Some of the the summoned officials were to answer questions regarding, the escalating insecurity along the Uganda-South Sudan border.

The parliament wanted to also know about, the killing of two women by armed criminals in Gogrial East and the murdered traders in Warrap State. 


The lawmakers also wanted to get answers to the rampant child abductions and the never ending cattle raids in Jonglei State.

Out of all the summoned ministers only, Interior Minister, Jonglei State Governor and GPAA Chief Administrator showed up for questioning. 


Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of National Security and Unity State and Warrap State governors failed to show up for questioning by the lawmakers.

TNLA speaker while addressing the members of the parliament stressed that, the minister of parliamentarian affairs, to remind ministers whenever they are called for questioning. 


“Honorable minister of parliamentarian affairs, we need to remind you that you should remind the ministers that when they are called to come to parliament, they should appear,” Nunu stressed.

Speaker Nunu, directed the parliamentary affairs minister by saying that, they are not joking here and the summoned ministers to give a serious reasons as to why they didn't show up for questioning. 


“We are not joking here. We are talking about the lives of people and there must be a serious reason why they (ministers and governors) are not here. We need explanations.” Nunu directed.
