Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. The king of chollo kingdom, commonly known as Shilluk today paid a courtesy visit to president Salva Kiir Mayardiit in Juba South Sudan. 


President Kiir, and the Chollo Kingdom King exchange their views on the current state of affairs in South Sudan.

While addressing the media, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the Presidential Affairs Minister said that, the president and the king talked about sustaining peace and stability in South Sudan. 


The King said that, he touched base with the President on the need for consolidating healing , peace and reconciliation ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The Shilluk Kingdom, is mostly dominated by the Shilluk people, was located along the left bank of the White Nile in what is now South Sudan and southern Sudan.


The Shilluk people, are the third-largest ethnic group of South Sudan, after the ethnic groups like Dinka and Nuer.

Their language is called Dhøg Cøllø, dhøg being the Shilluk word for language and mouth. It belongs to the Luo branch of the Western Nilotic subfamily of the Nilotic languages.

South Sudanese are the leading Miraa (KHAT) Chewers in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

Kakuma Refugee Miraa chewers initially are people from the Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya origins but recently South Sudanese Miraa chewers have overtaken both Somalia and Ethiopia to become the number one Miraa Chewers in the camp. According to one of our correspondent who has been in the camp for more than (15) fifteen years he said that “The number started increasing from the year 2010 and now in the year 2019 the number is too high.” By 2 PM that is exactly the time, Miraa (KHAT) is brought to the camp via Lodwar . South Sudanese Children will be seen around 1PM loitering Somalia or Ethiopian Market waiting for Miraa. This has in fact affected their afternoon classes instead of going for the afternoon classes they will be seen waiting for Miraa anxiously. South Sudan Army Invades Uganda

South Sudan People’s Liberation Army yesterday night got involved in a serious gunfight with the (UPDF) Uganda People’s Defence Force. The main reason of the show down is because UPDF believes SPLA Army has Invaded Uganda. It is believed that the South Sudan People’s Army (SPLA) has entered the counry through the West Nile Region into the following areas; Metu and Dufele in the District of Moyo. The West Nile regional police Spokesperson Josephine Angucia said the militants were suspected to be harboring the intentions of looting cattle from the residents.
