Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. The legendary wrestler Deng Dau was today killed in a bloody attack that resulted in the dead of seven 7 others in Jonglei State. 


The incident started, after youths from Hol, Duk County and the youths from Ayual had a misunderstanding.

The incident erupted into a fierce gun fight which claimed three lives in Twic East, Jonglei State, at the weekend was caused by a fishing net, an official has said.


On Sunday, three men identified as Deng Chol, Atem Deng, and a well-known wrestler – Deng Dau Muoradong – were killed in the intercommunal clashes.

Hon. Jacob Chol, Twic East County Commissioner said that, a fishing net for one of the gentleman from Duk got burnt and that ignited the incident. 


“Fishermen from Twic and Duk share Got-Akuat fishing area. Yesterday, a fishing net for one of the gentleman from Duk got burnt and that caused the incident,” Jacob said.

Hon. Jacob explained that, it all started with a quarrel between the two parties, with the interventions of the elders the quarrel was resolved. 


However, the aggrieved fishermen later returned to the scene and started opening fire and killing the three men and injuring others.

“Youth from Duk County were not convinced and satisfied with the intervention made. They picked up their guns and returned and started opening fire people.” Jacob explained. 


Hon. Jacob, further said that, the incident is not politically motivated and called upon the government to bring the culprits to the book.
