Pope Francis Asked President Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar to bring long lasting peace to South Sudan. 

The Pope upon his arrival in the country today held a personal lengthy meeting with President Kiir at the Presidential Palace. 

During his stay at the Presidential Place he met with various officials of the government, diplomats and civil society groups. 

While addressing the nation, Pope Francis said that: “Dear President and Vice President, it is time to say no more bloodshed, no more war, no more destruction. Let us stop all this. It is time for peace.” 

He further warned the leaders not to turn this country into a cemetery, because the leaders are responsible for the bloodshed in the country. 

He said that: “There is no peace without justice, no freedom without justice. Every person has the right to life. It is time to move from worst to best. It is time to stay together,” pope Francis said.
