The powers of the National Security Service have been scrapped off by President Kiir and His Deputy Dr. Riek Machar.
Dr. Martin Elia Lomuri National Cabinet Minister revealed that the two leaders finally reached a solution to scrapped the powers of national security.
“The national security law where there was disagreement on sections 54 and 55 about the arrest with or without a warrant has now been agreed by the president and first vice president and those will be scrapped.” Dr. Elia said.
The national security Act of 2019 allows National Security agents to arrest and detain suspects, monitor communications and search and seize property.
An arrest warrant is a warrant issued by a judge or magistrate on behalf of the state, which authorizes the arrest and detention of an individual, or the search and seizure of an individual's property.
