President Kiir today opened the first ever International Conference On Woman Transformational Leadership in Juba South Sudan.
The conference was attended by over 400 locals, regional and international delegates held at Radisson Blu Hotel.
The conference is to take place for three (3) days under the theme of "Transformational Leadership In Women, Peace and Security."
The objectives of the forum is to discuss issues such as women's economic governance, women leadership, governance and issues affecting women in the community level.
In his speech while addressing the conference, the president said that the people of South Sudan are honored to host the event since it is the first ever Women Conference held in Juba.
“My government and I are proud and honored to host this international leadership conference.” President Kiir said.
The president also noted that: “By empowerment, I mean enabling women to realize their full potential and capacity to lead and contribute nation building.”
President Kiir further said that: “During our liberation struggle, one of the principles we fought for was to free our citizens and part of this freedom was also for women to take an active role in nation-building and share their experiences with other women in the global society. This conference fulfilled that vision.” President Kiir said.
Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng noted that, the conference will empower women by them sharing their challenges they have undergone as women.
“This conference provides a forum for a political space for women to share their opinions in the decision-making process,” said Nyandeng. “This conference provides political space to share your powerful voices and rich experiences and create a safe space for our women at the grassroots to network with those from around the world.” -Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng said.
