Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. The prosecution team in the case of the rogue Soldier who Killed three foreigners and a national have been given a one week by the court martial to conduct Pre-Investigation at the crime scene. 

During the case hearing, the head of the persecution team led by Lt. Col. Andrew Yak Nyok, which Private Yak attested the killing of the three foreigners and the national was killed by a stray bullet. 

Private Yak, said that he killed the three syrians because they were forcing him to work in a poor condition and little pay. 

The private also confirmed that the foreigners use to pay him a wage of 1,000SSP daily and that it could not cater for his needs due to high demand of cost of living. 

He also stated that the foreigners and it's company denied him and his family the medical covers which he needed so much. 

Private Yak, also said that he didn't killed the fourth victim because he wanted him to survive and send a message to the others but unfortunately the fourth victim succumbed to his injuries. 

The prosecution team after hearing the testimony asked the court to grant them two weeks to visit the crime scene and collect evidence but the court instead opted to grant them only one week. 

“To conduct pre-investigation at the spot or crime scene for the formant, potential witnesses, and other crime material exhibits as we shall be waiting for possible facilitation to the scene site from South Sudan`s People's Defense Forces (SSPDF),” said Lt. Col. Andrew Yak Nyok.
