Minister of Finance and Planning was dismissed from his position by president Kiir and immediately was replaced by his successor.

The announcement was conducted in the state owned South Sudan Broadcasting Co-operation 'SSBC' relieving Dier Tong Ngor of his duties and appointed Bak Barnaba CHOL Bal as the new Minister of  Finance and Planning

The main reasons to why the finance and Planning minister was dismissed is still not clear but it coincides with the devaluation of the South Sudan Pounds 'SSP', which has consequently resulted in rampant hyper-inflation.

The former Minister recently presented a national Budget for the fiscal year 2023/2024 totalling 1.8 trillion SSP.

Dier Tong Ngor had assumed the role of Finance Minister precisely one year ago, prior to his recent replacement.
