Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. His firearm, a G3 rifle, was stolen after the shooting. ‎ ‎Turkana County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident, saying the assailants struck before other officers at the examination center could respond. “We lost one of our officers this morning while he was on official duty securing KCSE exam materials. Debate on 2023/2024 budget has been temporarily suspended because of the sacked finance minister by the parliament

The Lawmakers has decided to temporarily suspend the debate on 2023/2024 fiscal year budget due to the recent changes in the Finance Ministry, spokesperson of the parliament said. 


Last week the Finance Minister Hon. Dier Tong Ngor was sacked and replaced immediately with Dr. Bak Barnaba Chol as the new finance minister by president Kiir. 


It can only be assumed that the removal of the former finance minister might be because of the Economic Challenges, which includes the devaluation of the local currency which resulted in runaway inflation. 


Dr. Bak Barnaba was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Juba, university of Juba is one of the government owned university in the country. 


Parliamentary committee for information chairperson Mr. John Agany while speaking to the media said that, the tabling of the annual budget for third reading has been adjourned to allow the new finance minister to get acquainted with the annual budget. 


“We need to give the new minister time to look at the budget because he will have a last statement after the passing of the budget because the third reading is a critical stage. This is where a decision will be made, so the minister has been asked to acquaint himself with the budget and I think within these few days, it will be tabled,” John said. 


“The new minister has to acquaint himself with the report only. He needs to be informed about the report, and then of course he will be given the chance even though he is new. A minister, of course, you know is a policy maker and for this matter, the policy didn’t go with the former minister, it remains in the office, so the new minister needs to study it, make the last touches, and then he will make a statement.” John added.

A Sudanese Arabic newspaper is reporting that Riek Machar has hired Janjaweed as his bodyguards for his return to South Sudan. The Janjaweed have been renamed “Rapid Support Forces” and helped to suppressed the Sudanese protestors who toppled Bashir.
