President Salva Kiir Mayardiit today met the visiting Vatican State Secretary

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit, today on Monday met with the visiting Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin in Juba South Sudan. 


The reason for his visit was to convey a message of good will from his Holiness Pope Francis


His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, also the Bishop of Rome and sovereign of the Vatican City State. 


Pope Francis is the first ever Pope to be a member of the 'Jesuits' and also the first from the Americas, the first from the Southern Hemisphere, and also the first Pope that not born and raised in Europe


In attendance was the a Acting Foreign Affairs Minister ,Hon. Deng Dau Deng said the meeting discussed a wide range of issues relating to the peace implementation and the country's preparation for next year's general elections.


His Eminence Pietro Parolin said he had cordial and fruitful discussions with the President, stressing the historic visit by Pope Francis early this year.


Parolin called on the people of South Sudan to embrace the spirit of peace and reconciliation in order to build a harmonious society in the country.


The Vatican official is expected to conduct a mass with the Internally Displaced Persons in Malakal and the returnees who fled the conflict in Sudan.


From Malakal, Parolin will wind up his trip with a visit to Rumbek Diocese in Lakes State.
