Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. Torit State Officially Opens Equatoria International University

Torit State Officially opened Equatoria International University. The University will temporarily be located at Torit Institute until funds can be be found to built the university.  The University currently have enlisted 50 students from various faculty. Prof. Philemon Bwanga the registrar of academic confirms it.   The registrar of academic said that classes will start officially on June 24. “Torit is actually blessed to have this university now functioning. Education is now brought on your doorsteps so that you can access education cheaply and even at your own convenience. In our program, from Monday at 10:00, we expect all those whose names were read on radio stations to come for orientation.”  Professor Bwanga further said thatv“We need to equip you with what you are supposed to go through during the classes and your respective lecturers. IGAD Demand South Sudan Government To Avail The Money Given To Them For Peace Implementation

IGAD is not happy with South Sudan Government for withholding money given to them for the peace agreement since most tasks are still pending.   The demand from IGAD came After South Sudan Government promised to avail 100 Million Dollars for the peace implementation during the pre-transitional period.  Early this year NPTC provided a budget of 285 million dollars which was also approved by the cabinet in Juba.  The tasks in the NPTC budget has not even kick off.  Activities like assembling of soldiers, training, screening and unification are all still pending.  Members of the SPLA-IO in Ngiri Cantonment site last week complaint of hunger and lack of medical facilities too.   Here is what IGAD council of ministers have to say “[The council] calls on all Parties to the Agreement to continue their engagement in the peace process; and thanks the Special Envoy and the R-JMEC for their efforts.” The big question is what happened to a sum of 285 million dollars which is in the

Yei River State Is Calm and Stable Information Minister Confirm

Yei River State is very calm and stable no security incident, confirms the State Minister of Information. The minister also said that the hotbed of the rebels like Lasu road and Kupera is also calm since  no insecurity incidences reported. The State Information Minister Hon. Mowa Moses applauded the hard work done by the armed forces from the government to bring order in the state.  The calmness in the State made many people to return back to Yei River State  since all the roads have been opened.   Yei River State is a medium size city in South Sudan and it boarders both Uganda and Democratic Republic Of Congo.  More to come shortly.... 

South Sudanese Gangs In Kakuma Refugee Camp Clash Leaving One Dead 7 Others In Critical Condition

South Sudanese gangs in Kakuma Refugee Camp clashed. The clash resulted in one person dead and seven others wounded. The group resides in Kakuma 4. Kakuma 4 is a new area opened in Kakuma Refugee Camp in the year 2014 when War broke out in South Sudan. The two groups commonly known as Migos and Kayole had been having conflicts for a long time. Whenever they meet they fight.  We are yet to know the reason of the fight but currently investigation is underway as Criminal Investigation Department have taken over the matter.  Most of the gang leaders have been arrested and some fled or are on the run.  The Police is asking for support to help identify those criminals and bring them to the book. Ex Deputy-Governor Of Western Lakes State Appears In Court Over Missing 3,638,700 Million SSP

Former Deputy Governor appears in court over missing 3.64 million SSP. The Ex-Deputy Governor of Western Lakes State also was acting education Minister. During his role as state acting education minister he stole over 3,638,700 SSP and he was brought to court to explain the missing money which was meant for teachers and students. Earlier this month, Hon. Kerjok admitted that at least 10.68 million SSP did not reach the teachers claiming that his former employer blocked them from being given to the beneficiaries. Hon. Man Killed A Relative and Injured Another Person In Western Lakes State

Western Lakes State police spokesperson confirmed that a man killed a relative accidentally and injured another person in the cattle camp.   Mr. Elijah Mabor the State spoke person said that the alleged man mishandled his gun "One person died on the spot and another was seriously wounded in the incident and is receiving treatment in Rumbek state hospital, the cause of the incident was due to the mishandling of the gun." Murderer is currently in the police custody says the State Spokesperson “Our organized forces immediately went to the remote cattle camp of Gumaach to hunt for the suspect until they managed to arrest him.”  Currently investigation is currently underway and also the family of the deceased and the injured decision is being waited by the police.  More to follow shortly.... 

49 Year Old Woman Raped Multiple Times By Two Men In Rumbek

 Police in Rumbek have arrested two men accused of raping a 49 year old woman.  Just last year over 12 cases have been reported in western lakes state.   The arrested suspects are Mr. Mayom John and Mr. Malei Meen. Corrupt traffic police officers have been dismissed from duty as Interior Minister confirms this report.  Corruption issue on the roads have been very rampant as motorist are always swindled of their hard earn money by the traffic police officers.   Hon. Michael Chiengjiek said that in the months of May and June traffic officers caught across the country accepting bribes or demanding bribes from the motorist have been dismissed from duty.  In his own words the Minister of Interior Hon. South Sudan National Legislative Assembly erupted in Chaos on Thursday Morning today after Members of Parliament denied the Finance minister to read the 2019/2020 budget.   The reason to why the Finance Minister was denied chance to present the 2019/2020 budget is because the Members of Parliament were not paid some outstanding arrears.  The Members of Parliament insisted that all outstanding arrears of over 6 months should be paid to all the civil servants.  Last week on Friday council of ministers approved a raft draft of the budget of 208 billion pounds for the year 2019/2020. South Sudan Parliament Summoned Kuol Manyang Minister Of Defense, Nhial Deng Minister Of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Kapoeta State Governor Luis Lobong over Kenya boarder issue.  This came after some members of parliament claimed that the Kenya government launched 65-kilometer road rehabilitation project last month. South Sudan People's Defence Force (SSPDF) Underwent Training On Conflict Sexual Violence

South Sudan People's Defence Force (SSPDF)  underwent a training on conflict sexual violence and human right.   The training was conducted by United Mission In South Sudan (UNMISS).   The training amid allegations accusing the South Sudan People's Defence Force (SSPDF) committing various atrocities to the women and young girls of South Sudan.  A report was published earlier his year about over 125 women raped in Northern Liech by the South Sudan People's Defence Force.   South Sudan People's Defense Force (SSPDF) Human Rights Officer John Oziegbe admit that the training will equip the army with knowledge to curb any sexual violence committed by the army.   The Human Rights Officer is asking the Army to take what they learn seriously and spread the message to grassroots level.   More to come shortly.....   

Salva Kiir Women Hospital Receives Solar Donation From South Sudanese In Diaspora

Salva Kiir Women Hospital in Rumbek receives solar donation from South Sudanese in Diaspora mostly from Australia.   The chairman of South Sudanese in Diaspora Australia section said that the solar is to be used mostly in the maternity ward and also to fight darkness in the maternity ward.   The solar will be used to light the incubator in the maternity ward and all be used in theatre during operation.   Dr. Ali Dhamir gives his thanks to the Rumbek community in diaspora for their act of kindness.   Dr. Ali who is also the Medical Director in the facility said that the Solar's will help save many lives in Rumbek.  Australia has a high number of South Sudanese. South Sudan Receives Over 7 Million Dollars From USA For Wildlife Conservation

United States government has launched a 7.5 Million dollars project to conserve wild life.  The project will focus on Boma and Badingilo National park and will also support livelihood.   The US Ambassador to South Sudan Tom Hushek said that the funding all address poaching and livelihood in the areas mentioned.  The funding will protect endangered species and also animals like cheetah, crocodile and pangoline the ambassador confirms.  In the ambassadors own words “South Sudan has tremendous biological resources of national, regional, and global importance. Thirty Five (35) People Confirmed Dead In Kapoeta Flood.

Governor of Kapoeta Stats Hon. Louis Lobong Lojore confirmed to the media that after a heavy rain in Kapoeta on Tuesday 35 people lost their lives.  The same rain hit various parts of South Sudan like Duk in Jonglei whereby people also died.   Hon. Lobong said that "We lost about 35 people during the heavy rains that hit several counties in the state on 10 June, so this is what happened here."  He added that the flood destroyed people homes and even destroy the bridges.  “We are trying to create awareness among our people to control water-borne diseases,” he said. The flood affected the market in Kapoeta since it cleared all the food store in Kapoeta State. Yei River State Authorities Launched The Dissemination Of The Revitalized Peace Agreement

  Mr. Jacob Aligo Ladu the chairman of the Dissemination Committee confirmed that some part of Yei River State have not received the message.  The country has been in a sorrowful stats since the civil war started, the war destroyed properties and brought suffering to South Sudan.  He added.   Mr. Jacob said that the peace agreement ghat saw signed brought peace and relief to South Sudan people.   The main reason to why the dissemination exercises will be done is for the people of Yei River State to understand the content of the peace agreement.    More to follow shortly.... 

South Sudan Signed An Agreement On Boarder Demarcation With Kenya

South Sudan Minister Of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial today signed an agreement with the Kenyan Ambassador Monica Juma, Cabinet Secretary For Foreign. The agreement is about Boundary Demarcation and Delimitation.  In the past years South Sudan watched as Kenya pushed their boarder from Lokicchokio to Nadapal and rumors has it that Kenya is planning to extent it's boarders  up-to Loolim South Sudan.  The full content of the agreement is yet to be disclosed but let's wait and see when both government will disclose it.  Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial was accompanied by South Sudan Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Chol M. U. Ajongo and First Secretary, Mr. Peter G. Former Jonglei State Governor Welcomes His Sacking

Former Jonglei State Governor Philip Aguer Panyang termed his sacking a normal routine shuffle by the president and he has no issue with the sacking.   The former governor said he had serve his people for a very long tone “I am happy with my relieve. It is something normal. I welcome the new governor and I wish him success in his leadership. South Sudan Government Intends To Borrow 500 Million Dollars To Fund Infrastructure

During the council of ministers session, the finance minister confirmed that the government wish to borrow 500 million dollars to fund infrastructure and other development in the country.  The money will be borrowed from Afri-Exim Bank for the development of the country.   Speaking to the press after the council  of ministers meeting on Friday, the minister of Information, Michael Makuei , said that the loan will support infrastructural development and the peace process. South Sudan Information Minister Hon. Makuei Lueth confirmed it to the press and insisted for money is for developmental purposes only.   Hon. South Sudan President Demands The New Petroleum Minister Not To Accept Loans or Credit For Crude Oil

President Salva Kiir Mayardiit instructed his newly handpicked Minister of petroleum not to accept South Sudan crude oil sale on loan or credit.   The president insisted that the country will only accept money received from crude oil sale not money on credit or loan which is unacceptable.  Currently South Sudan Pumps over 170,000 barrels of crude oil per day and the country has been scrutinized by IMF for taking too much loans without paying them.   In his own words “…if our oil is a month away from being sold, let us not get anybody’s money, let us tie our belts and wait”  President Salva Kiir further added that “I want from you Awou to ensure…we wait until our money comes from our oil. South Sudan youths are bitterly complaining about lack of job opportunities and they might opt to take the matter into their own hands if the government remains silent.  Some of the young men and girls from Western Lakes State complain that some of them who have qualifications lack job opportunity in the state. The Youth insisted that they are now educated but no chance was being given to them both at the national and humanitarian level. South Sudan On The Brink Of Drought and Starvation Over 6.96 Million at Risk

6.96 million South Sudanese will face acute levels of food insecurity by July warns UN Agencies UN Agencies together with the government of South Sudan have hit an alarm bell that an estimated 61 per cent of the population in South Sudan will experience critical lack of food in the next few months. According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) update released today by the Government of South Sudan in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Programme (WFP) and seen by Good News Radio, an estimated 6.96 million South Sudanese will face acute levels of food insecurity or worse by the end of July. An estimated 21,000 people will likely face a catastrophic lack of food access while about 1.82 million will face Emergency and another 5.12 million people will face Crisis levels of food insecurity. President Salva Kiir witness  swearing in ceremony presided over by the Chief Justice, Chan Reech Madut, at the State House on Friday morning. The new public officials, where the Minister of Petroleum, Eng. Awuou Daniel, and the new Governor of Jonglei, Hon. Ustaz Maker Thiong Maal. During the swearing ceremony, President Salva Kiir urged the new constitutional post holders to serve the people of South Sudan, advising the new governor of Jonglei to serve all the people of Jonglei equally. South Sudan Need 12 Million Dollars To Prevent Ebola Virus

South Sudan is in a dire need of 12 million dollars to prevent and prepare for country in case of Ebola Virus outbreak.  The appeal came after Uganda reported Ebola Virus outbreak and over 5 people were confirmed dead.   South Sudan Minister of Health Dr. Riek Gai said that no cases of Ebola Virus has been reported yet. ‘No Ebola case found in South Sudan.“ Dr. Olushaya Olu the country representative of World Health Organization (WHO) is also appealing to United Nations High Commission For Refugees and other partners to help in funding as soon as possible.   He said preventing the disease is cheaper than treating it since treating the disease will be very catastrophic and will lead to lost of lives.   This means that the people of South Sudan should avoid eating of bush meats and also eating of birds.   More to follow shortly.... 

Over 200 South Sudanese Murdered In The Latest Crackdown In Khartoum

South Sudanese Human Rights activist in Khartoum Sudan confirmed that the military forces in Khartoum are targeting South Sudanese mostly.   The crackdown on the protesters led to lost of over 250 South Sudanese which have been target in most of the urban centers in Sudan.   Since the beginning of the crackdown eleven days the number of the murdered South Sudanese has been increasing.   One resident Achol Malong said that “The situations of South Sudanese here is not good completely,. South Sudan President Office Defends The Sacking Of Oil And Petroleum Minister

Hon. Ezekiel Gatkuoth was sacked by South Sudan President while on a trip abroad but the office of the President said the sacking was just a normal routine.  The president’s spokesman Ateny Wek told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that Kiir’s decision to remove Ezekiel was informed by need to appoint a new minister. Ateny Wek the President spokesman said that “These are normal routine changes that happen.” The Spokesman of the president further added that ” He [Ezekiel] was supposed to return from the official mission to Russia but he delayed. UNMISS Completed The Repair Of 2500kms Of Inter-State Roads

Over 2500 kilometers of road have been successfully repaired by UMISS United Mission In South Sudan. The road is meant to foster economic growth for the Country.    The newly repaired roads and bridges will connect Juba to Bentiu,  Juba to Bor and Malakal respectfully.   David Shearer the head of UNMISS said that “the efforts of our engineers to rehabilitate major supply routes will make a big difference to people’s lives, In many areas where roads have been improved, we have seen a decrease in violence between groups and an increase in reconciliation and peace-building activities.” He added that “improved access will also encourage trade, create jobs and economic growth.”   The road will not only improve economic activities but will render humanitarian agencies to access the hard to reach areas.   The repaired roads will also save South Sudanese millions of pounds since air transport is very expensive.   More to follow shortly.... 

South Sudan President Has Sacked Oil Minister Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth

Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth the Oil Minister has been sacked by South Sudan President His Excellency Salva Kiir.  The former Minister of petroleum who is also a strong ally of South Sudan Vice President Gen. Taban Deng Gai held the oil minister position since 2016. The decree also dismiss Jonglei State  Governor Philip Aguer Panyang.  In a a series of decrees Mr.  Daniel Chuang will replace Ezekiel Lol has the new Oil Minister in South Sudan.   Currently it pumps about 175,000 barrels per day of crude oil.
