Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. South Sudan Government Intends To Borrow 500 Million Dollars To Fund Infrastructure

During the council of ministers session, the finance minister confirmed that the government wish to borrow 500 million dollars to fund infrastructure and other development in the country.  The money will be borrowed from Afri-Exim Bank for the development of the country.   Speaking to the press after the council  of ministers meeting on Friday, the minister of Information, Michael Makuei , said that the loan will support infrastructural development and the peace process. South Sudan Information Minister Hon. Makuei Lueth confirmed it to the press and insisted for money is for developmental purposes only.   Hon. South Sudan President Demands The New Petroleum Minister Not To Accept Loans or Credit For Crude Oil

President Salva Kiir Mayardiit instructed his newly handpicked Minister of petroleum not to accept South Sudan crude oil sale on loan or credit.   The president insisted that the country will only accept money received from crude oil sale not money on credit or loan which is unacceptable.  Currently South Sudan Pumps over 170,000 barrels of crude oil per day and the country has been scrutinized by IMF for taking too much loans without paying them.   In his own words “…if our oil is a month away from being sold, let us not get anybody’s money, let us tie our belts and wait”  President Salva Kiir further added that “I want from you Awou to ensure…we wait until our money comes from our oil. South Sudan Youths Warn The Government Over Lack Of Employment Opportunities

South Sudan youths are bitterly complaining about lack of job opportunities and they might opt to take the matter into their own hands if the government remains silent.  Some of the young men and girls from Western Lakes State complain that some of them who have qualifications lack job opportunity in the state. The Youth insisted that they are now educated but no chance was being given to them both at the national and humanitarian level. 6.96 million South Sudanese will face acute levels of food insecurity by July warns UN Agencies UN Agencies together with the government of South Sudan have hit an alarm bell that an estimated 61 per cent of the population in South Sudan will experience critical lack of food in the next few months. According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) update released today by the Government of South Sudan in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Programme (WFP) and seen by Good News Radio, an estimated 6.96 million South Sudanese will face acute levels of food insecurity or worse by the end of July. An estimated 21,000 people will likely face a catastrophic lack of food access while about 1.82 million will face Emergency and another 5.12 million people will face Crisis levels of food insecurity. President Salva Kiir Sworn in New Minister Of Petroleum and Jonglei Governor

President Salva Kiir witness  swearing in ceremony presided over by the Chief Justice, Chan Reech Madut, at the State House on Friday morning. The new public officials, where the Minister of Petroleum, Eng. Awuou Daniel, and the new Governor of Jonglei, Hon. Ustaz Maker Thiong Maal. During the swearing ceremony, President Salva Kiir urged the new constitutional post holders to serve the people of South Sudan, advising the new governor of Jonglei to serve all the people of Jonglei equally. President Kiir advised Eng. Awuou Daniel, being a well-informed technocrat, to stamp out corruption in the oil sector and revive the economy through the petroleum industry. South Sudan Need 12 Million Dollars To Prevent Ebola Virus

South Sudan is in a dire need of 12 million dollars to prevent and prepare for country in case of Ebola Virus outbreak.  The appeal came after Uganda reported Ebola Virus outbreak and over 5 people were confirmed dead.   South Sudan Minister of Health Dr. Riek Gai said that no cases of Ebola Virus has been reported yet. ‘No Ebola case found in South Sudan.“ Dr. Olushaya Olu the country representative of World Health Organization (WHO) is also appealing to United Nations High Commission For Refugees and other partners to help in funding as soon as possible.   He said preventing the disease is cheaper than treating it since treating the disease will be very catastrophic and will lead to lost of lives.   This means that the people of South Sudan should avoid eating of bush meats and also eating of birds.   More to follow shortly.... 

Over 200 South Sudanese Murdered In The Latest Crackdown In Khartoum

South Sudanese Human Rights activist in Khartoum Sudan confirmed that the military forces in Khartoum are targeting South Sudanese mostly.   The crackdown on the protesters led to lost of over 250 South Sudanese which have been target in most of the urban centers in Sudan.   Since the beginning of the crackdown eleven days the number of the murdered South Sudanese has been increasing.   One resident Achol Malong said that “The situations of South Sudanese here is not good completely,. A big number of them have been killed during the time of launching a violent attack on protesters in Khartoum, and even yesterday there was a very serious shooting in Jebel Aulia refugee’s camp by the rapid support forces." South Sudan President Office Defends The Sacking Of Oil And Petroleum Minister

Hon. Ezekiel Gatkuoth was sacked by South Sudan President while on a trip abroad but the office of the President said the sacking was just a normal routine.  The president’s spokesman Ateny Wek told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that Kiir’s decision to remove Ezekiel was informed by need to appoint a new minister. Ateny Wek the President spokesman said that “These are normal routine changes that happen.” The Spokesman of the president further added that ” He [Ezekiel] was supposed to return from the official mission to Russia but he delayed. UNMISS Completed The Repair Of 2500kms Of Inter-State Roads

Over 2500 kilometers of road have been successfully repaired by UMISS United Mission In South Sudan. The road is meant to foster economic growth for the Country.    The newly repaired roads and bridges will connect Juba to Bentiu,  Juba to Bor and Malakal respectfully.   David Shearer the head of UNMISS said that “the efforts of our engineers to rehabilitate major supply routes will make a big difference to people’s lives, In many areas where roads have been improved, we have seen a decrease in violence between groups and an increase in reconciliation and peace-building activities.” He added that “improved access will also encourage trade, create jobs and economic growth.”   The road will not only improve economic activities but will render humanitarian agencies to access the hard to reach areas.   The repaired roads will also save South Sudanese millions of pounds since air transport is very expensive.   More to follow shortly.... 

South Sudan President Has Sacked Oil Minister Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth

Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth the Oil Minister has been sacked by South Sudan President His Excellency Salva Kiir.  The former Minister of petroleum who is also a strong ally of South Sudan Vice President Gen. Taban Deng Gai held the oil minister position since 2016. The decree also dismiss Jonglei State  Governor Philip Aguer Panyang.  In a a series of decrees Mr.  Daniel Chuang will replace Ezekiel Lol has the new Oil Minister in South Sudan.   Currently it pumps about 175,000 barrels per day of crude oil. South Sudan National Parliament summoned Mr. Michael Chiengjiek the Minister Of Interior over his order to shoot motorist with tinted windows.   His orders were made last week exactly on Friday branding motorist with tinted windows as criminals or those with numberless number plate.   The Minister of Interior order caused a public outcry from the public. Royal High School Riot In Bor Leaves Four Police Officers and Two Students Injured

Royal High Secondary school riot in Bor leaves two boys and four police officers injured. Jonglei State government has said in a statement that two boys were injured by stray bullets after police shot into the air to quell a riot by secondary school students. The incident took place this morning in Royal High School, Bor. The State Minister of Information, Atong Kuol Manyang alleges that the students had locked the main gate and some teachers inside the offices prompting the headmaster to call the police. When the police arrived, the student hurled stones at the police causing the police to respond by firing into the air. The Minister adds that a stray bullet that was shot into the air fell onto a 10 year old boy’s foot some 200m away. A 20 year student was also shot in the thigh by a suspected stray bullet. The bullet was lodged in his thigh. Four police officers were also injured after they were stoned by the students. All those injured are receiving medical attention at

Detained Journalist In Western Lakes State Released By National Security

The National Security detained and then released a journalist who is working for the State Radio known as Rumbek 98 FM and part time for Juba Monitor and Gurtong Trust.     He said that he was interviewing one of the suspect who was injured and was believed to be behind the killing of a National Security Officer.     In his own words: “I went to the state hospital, looking for medical personnel working in surgical ward for an interview. When I failed to get them, I decided to reach patient wounded during the fight between Gelweng youth and security forces which were coming from Juba.”   He added that when the National Security Officers saw him talking to the suspect, they immediately arrested.    In how own words: “The group of NSS came and I was taken to Makoi’s National Security offices, were I have spent my night in the cell but they didn’t beat me.”  The Journalist Mr. Mabor Riak Magok is also the secretary of the journalist Union in the Lakes region.    

Test On Food Samples Confirms WFP (South Sudan) Food Is Fit For Human Consumption

Just a month ago report of food poisoning of over 30 cases was brought to day light by South Sudan Food Security Council. The report indicated that over 30 cases of food poisoning was found and it indicated that the food being provided by the World Food Program (WFP) Was the source of the food poisoning.  The report forced World Food Program to run test samples on the food and the result is that the food is fit for human consumption. The food poisoning occurred in Southern Unity, Gogrial and Aweil since all the reported cases indicated that victims ate the sorghum ratio provided by the WFP. Mr. Thompson Phiri who is the communication officer said that the community should try and investigate other sources of the food poisoning since it has nothing to do with the food ration provided by WFP. Former Western Lakes State Governor Stole Over 10 Million SSP Meant For Students After Being Sacked

Mr. William Kirjok who was the former Deputy Governor of Western Lakes State confirmed that his boss the Governor took the money which was meant for students and salary of the teachers in the state.  The Scandal arises when teachers started to complained over unpaid incentives and the capitation grant for the students was not released by the state authorities.  One of the Rumbek University Students Union leaders Mr Makur Gum said that the scandal have paralyzed all educational activities in the state and teachers are also sleeping of hunger.   On his part the former governor has denied all this accusation and he is pointing fingers to the minister of finance in the state.   The Scandal have raised concerned that it might be a scheme by the governor and his boys from the State Ministry.   Here is a brief summary of the Capitation Grant. Human Organ Traffickers Targeting South Sudanese In Cairo

Recent reports have been emerging of human organ traffickers targeting South Sudanese in Egypt. This has led to fear and panic among the South Sudanese residing in Egypt confirms the South Sudanese leader in Egypt.   The fear and panic emerges after gruesome images and reports emerging from Egypt in which mostly of the victims are South Sudanese.   Just a day ago one of the victims Mother confirms that a 33 year old woman died in Cairo Hospital under mysterious circumstances. Most of the victims when found dead some of their organs are missing. Mr.  Mahmud Solomon the newly appointment governor of Western Lakes State has assured the people of peace and security and also development.     The Governor spoke during a rally at Rumbek.  He told the people not to fear but embrace better and Greater day coming.  Since through security everything will be fine.   Mostly he was not happy with the current trend in revenge killing which has already destroyed the image of the state.   Mr.  Solomon Was appointed on 20th May, 2019 by His Excellency Salva Kiir the South Sudan President.  Mr. Solomon replaced Brigadier General John Deng Mamer.    Mr.  Solomon was accompanied by senior members of the government. United Nations Demands South Sudan Government and Warring parties to implement the peace deal or face consequences from United Nations and other nations.   United Nations Mission In South Sudan Chairperson Of Torit Head Office urges the government and other warring parties to implement the signed peace agreement Mr. Bashir Allegele in his own words said that “Today we have more than 3800 military police and civilians that have lost their lives since 1949 in these 72 missions to ensure that other people have peace in their countries. We have to continue the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement so that South Sudan will achieve peace, sustainability, development and progress in the near future”. Oil Production Resumes In Torr Oilfield By South Sudan Government

South Sudan Government has started the oil production in Torr oilfiels after it was affected by the civil war in the year 2013, the area will produce 45,000 barrels of oil per day.   Mr.  Ezekiel Lol the Minister of Petroleum In South Sudan said that “Today we managed to resume Al-Torr oil field, it has been projected that we will be starting with 5,000 barrels a day. Former South Sudan Football Association Boss Arrested By Police Over Corruption

Mr.  Chabur Goc Alei the former South Sudan Football Association Chairman was today arrested by the South Sudan Police and will face charges of misappropriation of funds and making the Football Association assets as his own.   The arrested was after FIFA released a report indicating that Mr.  Chabur embezzled over 2000,000 USD was meant to develop South Sudan football.  The arrest was made under the directive of South Sudan Football Association.   The South Sudan Football Association said that the former boss refused to return some of the assets back and it triggered his arrest.   It was also believed that the former chairman used to offer gifts as a form of bribery which is also a violation of the FIFA Code ethics.   FIFA banned for former chairman from ever participating in any football related activities in and outside South Sudan for 10 years.   More to follow shortly....

 Yesterday (Tuesday) South Sudan witnessed the launch of State of the Art mobile Money Money platform and data center by Trinity Technologies Limited.   The occasion was attended by Indian Ambassador to South Sudan and the Undersecretary Minister Of Information Mr.  Justin Alier and other prominent dignitaries in the country.   The system will render Junubin in various services such as: Mobile Money using a platform called M-Gurush which will consist of mobile banking and other digital payment system.     Mr.  Richard Raja the Director Of Trinity Technologies said that the mobile platform is 100% safe for mobile money transactions just like the Kenya M-Pesa system.     From a technical point of view the platform will create job opportunities to the people of South Sudan.    It will also reduce the insecurity cases since people will not be carrying money but would rather have their money on their phone.   The the platform will work hand in hand with various

Father of One Of The Armed Robbers Who Murdered The Ugandan Teachers Arrested In Western Lakes State

The father of one of the gunmen who killed the Ugandan teachers have been arrested in Rumbek as the authorities tighten the search for the gunmen.  The Authorities said the arrest was done in order for the culprit to come out and replace the father since the old man was not responsible for the killing of the two Ugandan teachers.   The Ugandan two deceased Ugandan teachers were teaching in Hope and Resurrection Secondary School and were attacked between Western and Eastern Bhar Naam County exactly in Pulkuji.  The deceased who goes by the name Charles Kule Charles and Willis Binsiima were both deputy head teacher and the school administrator in the secondary school.   The teachers were killed on grounds that Ugandan truck drivers killed the chief of that Pulkuji, so it was a revenged killing.   The County Commissioner said confirmed that “Yes, he was detained yesterday and he told us he is talking with his son through someone else phone . South Sudan Joint Defence Force Receives Two (2) Million Dollars

The South Sudan Joint Defence Force received a total of two million dollars for the establishment of the revitalize peace agreement and for the implementation of the cantonment sites as the Chairman of the Joint Defence Force Lt. General  Gabriel Jok confirms it.   The money was allocated in order to cater for various activities to be completed by the Joint defence force.     General Juk also reiterated that the soldiers are expected to move to their respective cantonment sites by the end of this week.   The deputy chairperson of the joint defence Lt. General James Koang Chol says that the money is to cater for the past activities which was neglected due to financial issues.     He also added that the joint defence force received also over 10 vehicles to help curb the logistical process.  More to follow shortly.... 

58 Year Old Woman Raped In Tonj State

Officer from the Criminal Investigation department Mr. David Bol confirms that a 58 year old woman was rape mercilessly.     Mr. David Bol who is the crimes investigator in Tonj State said that the lady was raped at around 9PM by a man who was driving a red car.  The lady said that when the culprit stop the car ahead of her and immediately attacked her and also covered her mouth so that she can't scream.   Her please for help fell into deaf ears as no one was near by that time to help or rescue her.    The investigator is asking for all the drivers to help in the investigation and identify the culprit mostly he is asking for all the drivers in Tonj State to help.  Finally, he is asking the women to be very careful when walking at night alone. 17 Year Old Boy Shot By National Security Officer In Bor

A rogue National Security Officer Shot a 17 year old boy in Bor during the celebration of the SPLA day.   Atong Kuol Manyang, The Jonglei State Minister Of information said that “According to the report we got, the soldier was under the influence of Bangi/Marijuana.”  According to the State Minister Of Information the officer was heavy intoxicated with bang and alcohol. The confrontation started when the officer spotted the kid putting on a unique cap which can change it colors when exposed to sunlight.   The uncle of the kid said that “He asked the boy why he was putting on such a cap, the boy wondered why he could not wear such a cap. He told the officer it is just a normal cap. But the soldier took the cap from the boy’s head, and walked away.”  The uncle further said that “The boys followed him, trying to persuade him to forgive them and return the cap, but he immediately turn around and shot one of the boys on the leg.”  The wounded boy is currently under medication
