Top Opposition General Joins Government Forces in South Sudan

‎A senior opposition army officer has left his group and joined the government army in South Sudan. Brigadier General Adnan Alex Boboya, who was part of the SPLA-IO (the main opposition army), said he has decided to support peace and work with the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), which is the national army. ‎ ‎Speaking in Yei River County, Gen. Boboya said, “I am doing this for the good of my people and my country. It is time for peace. We, as soldiers, should protect our communities, not fight them.” ‎ ‎Government army leaders welcomed him and encouraged other opposition fighters to stop fighting and talk about peace. ‎ ‎This comes just days after over 600 SPLA-IO soldiers also joined the government side. ‎ ‎But some people are worried that these changes could cause more problems for the peace agreement signed in 2018 between President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Riek Machar.  ‎ ‎There are also reports that Riek Machar is being kept at home and not allowed to move...

Oil Production Resumes In Torr Oilfield By South Sudan Government


South Sudan Government has started the oil production in Torr oilfiels after it was affected by the civil war in the year 2013, the area will produce 45,000 barrels of oil per day.  
Mr.  Ezekiel Lol the Minister of Petroleum In South Sudan said that “Today we managed to resume Al-Torr oil field, it has been projected that we will be starting with 5,000 barrels a day. We are having 16 wells and we will be putting it to production, 6 wells as a start and then we will continue to make sure that the rest of the remaining wells are put into production.”
According to the Minister of Petroleum message we expect many more oilfields to be opened by June and oil production will continue as it was in 2013, since oilfields like Menga will also resume oil production.  
The areas around the oilfields will received assistance from the government in terms of education scholarships, health facilities and employment reiterates the Petroleum minister inaccordance to South Sudan constitution which states that two (2) percent of the oil profits to be given back to the locals.
