Police Officer Shot Dead, Gun Stolen While Guarding KCSE Exam Papers in Turkana ‎

Turkana County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi. ‎A police officer was shot dead in cold blood on Monday morning while guarding Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers in Turkana County.  ‎ The tragic incident occurred at Kang’atotha area, Turkana Central, where officers had been deployed to provide security during the ongoing national examinations. ‎ ‎According to police reports, the slain officer was part of a team assigned to escort and guard examination materials at a local school. Witnesses said the attack happened shortly after dawn when unknown assailants ambushed the officer. His firearm, a G3 rifle, was stolen after the shooting. ‎ ‎Turkana County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident, saying the assailants struck before other officers at the examination center could respond. “We lost one of our officers this morning while he was on official duty securing KCSE exam materials.  Tonj State Director of Physical Infrastructure tells the people of Tonj and all Junubin that the airstrip is on a verge of being extended.
 
The construction requires a big space and also the houses that are going to be demolished its owners have to compensated, after that period then we start said Mr. Angelo Akuei.

He further discloses that they have registered 672 people before evacuating them to another area.Those who processed their documents already should not be charged again and compensation should be done to those with buildings, he explains.

 
One of the residents who are close to the airstrip Mr. Victor Mawien Akoon, appreciates the plan of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure because it is dangerous for those near the airstrip.
 
The leaders of Tonj state are now waiting for the dry season to commence so as they can kick start the project of extending the airstrip.

A Sudanese Arabic newspaper is reporting that Riek Machar has hired Janjaweed as his bodyguards for his return to South Sudan. The Janjaweed have been renamed “Rapid Support Forces” and helped to suppressed the Sudanese protestors who toppled Bashir. Dr Riek who is currently in Khartoum will be accompanied by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, the commander of Janjaweed who is currently part of Sudan’s ruling Sovereign Council. The newspaper Al-Intibaha quoting unnamed sources in the Government of South Sudan reported that Riek will return to South Sudan next month to meet with President Kiir. The paper did not specify the date of the meeting.
