GESS To Fund 215,000 Junubin Girls

The UK Aid funded Girls’ Education South Sudan or GESS reached 215,000 individuals girls in the young nation this year.
GESS officials in a report say since 2014, they managed to pay 250,000 US Dollars to individual girls to attend their education.
The report describes South Sudan as one of the worst educational indicators in the World, particularly for girls.
The officials say, early marriage and poverty are among some factors contributing negatively to girls’ education in the country.
The cash transfer help to remove this barrier by targeting girls in upper primary and secondary schools.
“Cash transfers make schools to remain opened, increase girls’ enrolment and attendance rates, despite the ongoing conflict in the country, in the past four years”, says the report.
It adds that in 2017, South Sudan’s school enrolment stands at 1.5 million pupils, 44.4 percent of them are girls”.
