Southern Unity: Mobile Court Brings Hope to Communities After a Decade ‎

‎For the first time in more than a decade, communities in Leer, Mayiendit, Panyijjar, and Koch Counties are seeing a glimmer of justice. On April 15, 2025, a mobile court officially began operations in southern Unity State, bringing with it long awaited accountability for serious crimes including murder, rape, and gender-based violence. The court will operate until May 9 and is expected to hear over 60 cases. ‎ ‎The initiative marks a historic return of formal justice to a region scarred by years of conflict and neglect.  ‎ ‎Unity State Governor Riek Bim Top Long launched the court in a ceremony attended by more than 2,000 residents a powerful signal of just how urgently the people have been waiting for justice. ‎ ‎“We are working with the judiciary and partners to bring judges permanently back to Unity,” said Governor Long. “This will enable those who have suffered harm to receive justice.” ‎ ‎This mobile court isn’t just a temporary fix. Kenya To Donate Food Aids To IDPs In Upper Nile

The people of Kenya are appealing to the warring parties to cease all hostilities and contain the escalating violence in the country.

The remark was made by Kenya President William Ruto while announcing that Kenya will provide food aids to the internally displaced persons in Upper Nile and greater Jonglei.

The Kenyan President said that the people of Kenya are concerned by the escalating violence in South Sudan.

He said that women and children are the victims of the escalating violence in the northern part of South Sudan. 

In his own words “I note with great concern the escalation of hostilities in neighboring South Sudan… The increasing insecurities, violence, displacement and unfolding humanitarian crisis are detrimental to peace and stability of South Sudan and East Africa region as a whole,” says Ruto in the statement.

The Kenyan head of state said he has spoken to his counterpart, President Salva Kiir on Saturday, December 24, asking him and all parties involved to exert their utmost efforts to solve the conflict in South Sudan.
