Nasir Trial Adjourned as MP Gatwech Lam Puoch Begins Defense ‎

‎The Special Court handling the Nasir incident has adjourned proceedings until Monday, June 15, after the third accused, MP Gatwech Lam Puoch, began presenting his defense. ‎ ‎Gatwech, a member of the National Legislative Assembly representing Nasir County, rejected allegations linking him to activities related to the Nasir incident.  ‎ He told the court that his actions were part of his constitutional duties as an elected representative and were aimed at reducing tensions in Nasir and Ulang counties. ‎ ‎The lawmaker said a press conference cited by prosecutors was intended to encourage dialogue, address rumors, and help prevent conflict rather than incite violence.  ‎ He maintained that he was fulfilling his responsibility to represent and speak on behalf of his constituents. ‎ ‎Gatwech also argued that the Nasir crisis should be viewed within the wider context of challenges facing the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement, citing concerns raised by various political act...

Five Commercial Trucks Loaded With Food Arrived In Gokmachar

Businessmen from Gokmachar managed to bring in Aweil North County five Commercial Trucks fully loaded with food. 

Aweil North County Commissioner Mr. vixtorino Ken Akoon said that “the road has not opened officially due to floods in the northern bank of Kiir Adem River. But on Wednesday, five trucks arrived from East Darfur to Gokmachar town, using the Kiir Pal route that is located west of Kiir Adem.”- He was speaking to Radiotamazuj.

Arrival of the commercial trucks has raised hope to the people and they expect the prices of stocks to drop. 

One Bol Make who is a member of Aweil North Chamber Of Commerce said: “yes, five trucks have already arrived in Gokmachar, and some are still on the way coming. This is the first time this year for the trucks to arrive here because the Sudanese truckers were stranded on the north Bank of Kiir Adem and didn’t arrive here because the floodwater level was high.”

“The prices are dropping slowly in Gokmachar. 50 kg of sugar is now sold at 38,000 SSP, 100 kg of onions is now sold at 40,000-35,000 SSP, and it was 120,000 SSP, 100 kg was 100,000 SSP and now is sold at 65,000-60,000 SSP. If goods come continuously from Sudan, the prices will drop,” he explained.

A member of Northern Bahr El Ghazal Legislative Assembly said that the resumption of the cross border trade with Sudan is a good decision. They deployed forces to crack down on bandits so traders can now move freely between the two countries.
