Nineteen '19' year old woman committed suicide in Lakes State, Rumbek East County

  The local police of Lakes State confirmed that a 19 year old woman committed suicide in the County of Rumbek East in the village of Meen-Wal and the police withheld the deceased name for unknown reason.  This is not the first time for the young girls to commit suicide in the State, the first case was reported to the authorities  two days ago after a young girl committed suicide in Wulu County.  While speaking to the Media, Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makwach said that, the police are conducting thorough investigation on why there is a rampant rise of suicide amongst girls in Lakes State.  “We have recorded several cases of suicide with the most recent being a 19-year-old girl who committed a suicide in Meen-wal village in Rumbek East County and the investigation is still ongoing to identify the cause of the suicide because the cases are rising. Interior Minister and UNHCR Assess Refugee Situation In Yambio


Hon. Mahamoud Solomon Agook and UNHCR South Sudan Representative Mr. Arafat Jamal visted Makpandu Refugee Camp in Yambio County. 

The camp hosts around 20,000 refugees from the DRC Democratic Republic Of Congo, Central Africa Republic, Sudan and many other countries.

Minister Solomon said that "I have come to see the refugees who are here, I have visited many refugee camps, but Yambio this my first time to come here to see them and how they coexist with our host communities. And what are the benefits of our local communities from the project of UNHCR because since they are the host communities they need to benefit in terms of education, health, clean drinking water, and so on."

For his part, UNHCR's Jamal said as partners they are ready to support refugees across the country.
